About Rogue Lacquer

Started in 2018, Rogue Lacquer is an indie nail polish and nail care brand based in Phoenix, AZ. The brand offers products that are created using high quality and locally sourced ingredients. Their formulas are 5 free, cruelty free and vegan.

My thoughts on the formula

Overall, I am very happy with their formula. I have numerous Rogue polishes at this point and they all self-level easily and dry fairly quickly (3-5 minutes). I also find Rogue polishes have a good wear time, usually with 5+ days without chipping on natural nails. For the flakie bombs in particular, you will notice some texture and may want to use multiple coats of top coat to get that smooth, glossy finish. I prefer to use a smoothing top coat in conjunction with my regular one.

Black Friday Doorbuster and Restock

The Christmas Crelly 2.0 | $10.50 USD

The Christmas Crelly 2.0 is a white crelly with metallic red and gold flakies and matte green flakies. This is the perfect Christmas mix in a bottle! As usual this crelly was nice and smooth and I didn’t have any texture issues with the flakies. Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Santa’s Shattered | $11 USD

Santa’s Shattered is a silver flakie bomb with scant metallic red and green flakies and a scattering of holo microglitter. This shade is seriously reflective with all those silver flakies! If you want to tone that down a bit this shade also looks great matte, which brings out the sprinkling of red and green flakies. This is a shade where you will have noticeable texture, so you may want to use multiple coats of a smoothing or QDTC a top coat. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Winter Holi-yay Collection

This collection consists of five shades in a blinged-out Holiday colour palette. The set of five can be purchased for $52 USD, or individual shades can be purchased for $10.50-12 USD.

Holly & Bright | $11 USD

Holly & Bright is a flakie bomb with green-gold flakies, metallic red and teal flakies and a scattering of holo microglitter. This is the showstopper of the collection for me! Definitely the epitome of the holidays and I can’t wait to use it in nail art! Any of these flakie bombs also have great “toppabilities”, as in one coat they have a nice medium density of flakies that would look beautiful as a topper. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Everything is Pine | $10.50 USD

Everything is Pine is a forest green crelly with metallic silver flakies. Here’s another beautiful crelly! In this crelly base the silver flakies come off more like a lighter green, giving the shade a lot of dimension. This shade is also seriously gorgeous matte! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Peri-twinkle Lights | $12 USD

Peri-twinkle Lights is a periwinkle jelly with silver magnetic pigment and metallic silver flakies. When magnetized the lighter silver pigment gets pulled to the magnet, revealing the darker periwinkle jelly below. Left without magnetizing, this shade has a much more silver-y appearance. Really, it’s gorgeous either way! Apparently the magnetic pigment is supposed to be holo but I really didn’t see much holo to it. Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Shattered Sugar Plums | $11 USD

Shattered Sugar Plums is a flakie bomb with metallic silver and cool purple flakies and a scattering of holo microglitter. Another blinding beauty! I love how cool the purple flakies are in this shade. It really gives the air of being frosty, yet colourful. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Kiss Me at Midnight | $11 USD

Kiss Me at Midnight is a purple-magenta jelly with strong blue-purple shimmer and holo microflakies. If you know me, you know how I am about holo microflakes! Love at first sight! This is such a beautiful shade that I think could be a year round favourite! Here I used two coats and one coat of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Thoughts on the Winter Holi-yay Collection

If the holiday season equals bling for you, then these are your polishes! I really enjoyed all of these shades and they cover a decently versatile colour palette as well!! It’s not all about red and green this year.
