About Rogue Lacquer

Started in 2018, Rogue Lacquer is an indie nail polish and nail care brand based in Phoenix, AZ. The brand offers products that are created using high quality and locally sourced ingredients. Their formulas are 5 free, cruelty free and vegan.

My thoughts on the formula

Overall, I am very happy with their formula. I have numerous Rogue polishes at this point and they all self-level easily and dry fairly quickly (3-5 minutes). I also find Rogue polishes have a good wear time, usually with 5+ days without chipping on natural nails. Because this particular collection is overflowing with flakies, you will notice some texture and may require multiple coats of top coat to get that smooth, glossy finish. I prefer to use a smoothing top coat in conjunction with my regular one.

Rogue Lacquer Falloween Collection

This collection contains six shades of crellies and flakie bombs covering both Fall and Halloween themes and colour palettes. The set of six can be purchased for $60 USD, or individual shades can be purchased for $10.50-$11 USD.

Here for the Boo’s | $11 USD

Here for the Boo’s is a white crelly with black flakies that glows orange in the dark. Seriously, what better shade for Halloween nail art? You’ll see shortly that I have done a mani where this shade is used for ghosts and it is perfection! I noticed that while my DSLR camera had some trouble picking up the glow, phone cameras pick it up great. The glow is fairly strong for 1-2 minutes and is a lovely orange colour. This is the same crelly formula as those released in the Summer and it has great coverage. Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Shattered Pumpkins | $11 USD

Shattered Pumpkins is a clear-based flakie bomb filled with silver metallic flakies, a scattering of orange and black flakies and silver holo microglitter. The silver flakies in this polish are downright BLINDING. I was actually having some troubles taking pictures of this shade because of the amount of reflection! This can be worn opaque or as a topper, although do know that the flakie mixture is quite dense. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Hoodies & Hayrides | $10.50 USD

Hoodies & Hayrides is a denim blue jelly with blue metallic flakes . I don’t know what it is about this shade, but I am absolutely in love. The way the flakies catch the light is just stunning. This is the first shade I had to use on my nails after I finished swatching! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Fall AF | $11 USD

Fall AF is a clear-based flakie bomb with red, copper, gold and silver holo flakies. If you ever wanted the changing leaves of Fall on your nails, this is your chance! This shade can be applied opaque or used as a dense topper. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Fright Night | $10.50 USD

Fright Night is a purple crelly with black flakies. Now this shade is spooky, but it’s also borderline neon for a purple. I’d say this shade also fits right in with the Summer neons! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Maze Craze | $11 USD

Maze Craze is a clear-based flakie bomb with red/magenta purple UCC flakes, and holo and chartreuse flakies. For me this is the true stunner of the collection and it is so unique! The colour combination is simply frightening and and is very reminiscent of a Frankenstein colour scheme. Again, this shade can be applied opaque or used as a dense topper. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last picture shows this shade matte.

Thoughts on the Falloween Collection

Overall, I really love the combined theme of Falloween and this collection really lives up to its name! The flakie bombs are all so unique, but shockingly I’m just as much in love with the crellies! The collection truly has something for everyone, but particularly for us Fall and Halloween fanatics!
