Potion Polish Autumn 2021 Collection

Hello everyone! Today I have swatches of the Potion Polish Autumn Collection*. Potion Polish is one of those brands where I pretty much want every single polish shade they ever release. The flakie combinations, the stunning glitter mixes, and the holographic jellies? It truly doesn’t get better than this. This collection launches September 4th at 1 PM EDT. Don’t forget to check out my swatch video of all the shades at the end of this post!

My thoughts on the formula

Overall, I am very happy with their formula. I have worn several shades in the past and have never noticed an unusual amount of chipping. For this particular collection the opacity does vary by shade, with 2-3 coats recommended for all shades. For those with long nails, the jellies/crellies may require three coats. The polish self-levelled easily and dried fairly quickly (3-5 minutes). All of the flakies and glitters laid very flat, but the amount of texture definitely varied by shade, with some requiring multiple coats of top coat or a smoothing top coat. I have been wearing these shades on my natural nails for three days now and have minimal wear on the tips, with one small chip that happened on day 2. I will post another update on wear in the next week.

Potion Polish Autumn 2021 Collection

This collection contains eight shades of autumnal jellies, crellies and crushed holos. All are priced at $10.50-11 USD.

Cranberry Fizzy | $10.50 USD

Cranberry Fizzy is a burgundy red jelly packed with copper holo glitters in various sizes. This is a returning and reformulated shade. The result of the copper glitters in the red jelly is a red glittery polish, as you can’t see the copper through the jelly. HOWEVER, wow is this the most glittery polish ever? You have to see the swatch video to see the full effect! This does mean that the polish is very textured, so you may want to use multiple coats of top coat to smooth it out. Here I used three coats, two coats of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Fallen Leaves | $10.50 USD

Fallen Leaves is a burnt orange jelly with gold and orange holo pieces. I love the holo pieces that are used in this jelly as you really don’t see them in a lot of polishes. This jelly really builds up nicely to be a juicy shade with some depth, particularly with three coats. This shade again is quite textured, but not as much as Cranberry Fizzy. Here I used three coats, two coats of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Everything Pumpkin | $11 USD

Everything Pumpkin is a pumpkin orange crushed holo.  I love any shades with these larger pieces of holo as it gives more detail and dimension to the eye than a linear holo. This is literally the perfect Fall orange! Because I also own Potion Polish I ❤ Fall Most of All, I have included a comparison photo for those of you who also own it. The shades are extremely close, with I ❤ Fall Most of All being slightly more holo heavy. Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Smoky Maple Chai | $11.50 USD

Smoky Maple Chai is a multichrome that shifts from copper to orange, gold and olive green with a touch of holo. This shade is super interesting as in the bottle in person it looks more like a chartreuse green with olive at the periphery, but in direct light the coppery-orange shades really come out. This is literally the perfect Fall multichrome! Here I used two coats and one coat of a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Hearthside | $11 USD

Hearthside is a light taupe grey crelly with red/copper/gold/green shifting chrome flakes, red/gold/green shimmer and gold, red and orange hex glitters in multiple sizes. This shade is so complex with so many elements to it, and I’m loving every bit of it. I can totally envision firey embers in this polish, as if you are sitting by a crackling fire! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. Those who do not like VNL (visible nail line) may want to use three coats. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Hello Fall | $11 USD

Hello Fall is a yellow gold crushed holo with gold flakies. As if these crushed holos could get any better, but with flakies? Chef’s kiss! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Forest Trail | $10.50 USD

Forest Trail is a deep forest green jelly with gold holo microglitter and a touch of copper glitters. This deep green jelly with scattered holo microglitter is gorgeous. I particularly love the scant copper glitters in there too for that extra special touch. Here I used three coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Flannel Jammies | $10.50 USD

Flannel Jammies is slate grey crelly with blue undertones and a light load of copper, caramel and orange glitters. Crelly glitter mixes like these are some of my favourite types of shades and I love the subtle blue tone in this one! I absolutely cannot wait to use this shade in nail art! Here I used two coats, one coat of a smoothing top coat and another of a glossy top coat to knock out any texture. The last two pictures show this shade matte.

Thoughts on the Autumn 2021 Collection

Overall, I am in love with every single one of these shades. Fall is truly my favourite season and I impatiently wait for it every Summer. There is truly no better way to start off the season than with a beautiful spectrum of nail shades and this collection covers every integral colour of Autumn!
