My thoughts on the Zoya Formula
Overall, I really enjoy the Zoya formula. The most impressive quality of Zoya nail polishes is the opacity of their lighter cremes. Often “skin-coloured” or lighter cremes require at least two if not three coats to reach full opacity. Zoya’s lighter cremes are almost fully opaque with ONE coat. That is incredible! So clearly the pigment is there. And this rings true for most of their other shades as well. In terms of wear, I find that the Zoya formula is chip resistant until you hit around the 4-5 day mark, which is pretty typical, if not a bit better than typical.
In terms of the brush, it is the thinner style, but they do offer a wider brush called the Z-Wide Brush which can be purchased separately for $2 each.
“Introducing the Darling Collection for Spring 2021 featuring an array of effortless and fun shades that make painting your nails an easy and sweet experience – perfect to start a New Year with. This assortment offers half subdued tones, and half bright pops of color, all in our wearable cream formula.“
Val is a medium sky blue with a creme finish. As usual, I can say across the board that all the cremes in this collection are very opaque, without being too thick. I was a little stingy with the first coat of this shade in my swatch video, but it’s just as pigmented as the rest! What a pretty blue for Spring! Here I used two coats and a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Kayleigh is a light lilac purple with a creme finish. Wow, this light purple is breathtaking, and truly does remind me of lilacs, a flower my mother always loved. Here I used two coats and a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Mara is a medium neutral blush with a creme finish. I’m always on board with a good neutral, but I love the blushiness of this shade! I also love the medium depth of it. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Tweedy is a medium bubble gum pink with a creme finish. If you are a bright, Barbie pink kind of person, this is your shade! It’s so bright and cheerful. Here I used two coats and a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Ella is a medium salmon pink or orange-y coral with a creme finish. While beautiful and fun, this shade was a nightmare to photograph and film. It almost comes off as a neon it is so bright, so the camera just does NOT know what to do. In my video and original pictures, it looks like more of an orange creamsicle, but it has much more pink to it than that. I have edited the photos to be as colour accurate as possible (you can tell how much they’ve been edited since the light reflections on the nails look blue!!), but I can only do so much. The best I can do is suggest that you seek swatches from multiple different people so that you can get a good idea of the real shade. Here I used two coats and a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Joyce is a medium saturated fuchsia pink with cherry red undertones with a creme finish. This shade was also slightly hard to photograph as it came across as strictly cherry red. I have edited the photos to add some pink in there, but believe me that it is more of a hot fuchsia than a red. Here I used two coats and a glossy top coat. The last two pictures show this shade matte.
Thoughts on the Darling Spring 2021 Collection
Wow, honestly, just wow. Overall, I am absolutely obsessed with these shades together! When I first saw the press release for this collection, it was love at first sight. I feel so inspired by it, and it gives me hope that maybe Spring truly is on the way! I definitely plan on doing some nail art with the entire collection, so stay tuned for that! The formulas are all great as well. They have that same opaque formula that we are used to with Zoya, and none of the shades are too viscous or thick, so they are easy to work with. It’s a success for me!
