Wow! or Waste? Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Collection

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Wow! or Waste? Whether a whole collection has launched, or just a new product, I’m going to evaluate whether each product is either a Wow! buy or a Waste? of money, in terms of the price and the amount of product you get.

This time around we are evaluating the new Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzers and Blushes, which release on April 17, 2020.

To me, this is an interesting release since we already know Fenty has cream products in the format of their Match Stix. But, given that these are in a pan, I’m willing to bet this is a much softer and creamier formula. My experience with the Match Stix has not been a good one. They are far too hard, making it challenging to apply them. So, I am very curious in these new cream blushes and bronzers!

So, do you want to know whether these items are a Wow! or a Waste? Let’s get into it!

Price and Quantity

These cream blushes are priced at $26 CAD ($20 USD) each and have 0.1 oz of product. This actually does seem like a good deal to me, at first look. Yes, it’s a small amount of product, but it seems like they have been priced accordingly. And we know that a small amount of product is likely preferable when it comes to cream products that go further and expire sooner than powder products.

For a better look at the value I have compared to other high end cream blushes that are either in stick or pan form.

Here are the comparisons listed from best value to worst value:

Rank Product Cost
($ CAD)
Quantity (oz) Number of Shades Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek $37 1 11 $37/oz
2 Fenty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick $33 0.25 14 $132/oz
3 Nudestix Nudies Matte Blush & Bronze $38 0.25 5 $152/oz
4 Nudestix Nudies Bloom All Over Dewy Color $38 0.25 4 $152/oz
5 Tower 28 Beauty BeachPlease Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm $26 0.16 3 $163/oz
6 Fenty Cheeks Out Cream Blush $26 0.1 10 $260/oz
7 Ilia Multi-Stick $45 0.15 8 $300/oz
8 Lilah B. Divine Duo™ Lip & Cheek $59 0.08 5 $738/oz

Wow! or Waste?

I’m actually kind of surprised that this product is a Waste compared to everything else. Ranking number 6? I do still think it is a good deal when you consider how much product you will use. I have never gone through a full cream product, especially a colour product, so for a purchase price of $26 I’m still not mad at the value. I would be interested to know what their shelf life is though.

I’m fairly certain I am still interested in purchasing one of these. I like that they are in a pan and I am hoping the texture is much more creamy than the Match Stix. I think the colour I am the most interested in, based on my collection is Cool Berry, but I do love the look of Fuego Flush and Strawberry Drip.

Price and Quantity

These cream bronzers are priced at $42 CAD ($32 USD) each and have 0.22 oz of product. This pricing seems a little more expected to me, but we can see that these bronzers have more than twice the product of the blushes.

For a better look at the value I have compared to other high end cream bronzers that are either in stick or pan form.

Here are the comparisons listed from best value to worst value:

Rank Product Cost
($ CAD)
Quantity (oz) Number of Shades Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer $37 1 3 $37/oz
2 Tarte SEA Breezy Cream Bronzer $38 0.56 2 $68/oz
3 Fenty Match Stix Matte Skinstick $33 0.25 22 $132/oz
4 Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow $38 0.28 3 $136/oz
5 Nudestix Nudies Matte Blush & Bronze $38 0.25 2 $152/oz
6 Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer $42 0.22 6 $191/oz

Wow! or Waste?

With this cream bronzer, I am less surprised that this is also a Waste. Overall, I’ve heard great things about the Milk Makeup bronzer, so that might be the way to go. However, a HUGE plus for these Fenty Cream bronzers is the shade range. For whatever reason, the shade range for most cream bronzers seems to be particularly bad. Of course, Fenty made sure to at least start on rectifying this issue. So in that case, value might not be so important to you, because you find value in the shade range.

Overall Collection Value

Overall, I don’t find this Wow! or Waste? had changed my opinion or outlook on these products much. I was always interested in the blushes and I still am, even if they don’t have as good a value as other comparable products on the market. I’m a fan of the cheap initial purchase price, and even though there is a small amount of product, I still doubt I would go through it all. As for the bronzer, I am less interested in cream bronzers to begin with. I don’t know why, but I just can’t see myself using them. The higher price tag has solidified that opinion in this case. If I ever were to branch out and give them a try, I might choose the Fenty, given the larger shade range.

Here is the overview of what we have learned through this edition of Wow! or Waste?

  1. I’m absolutely obsessed with cream products, so this launch is particularly interesting to me. Would love to feel the texture though before I buy, but unfortunately that’s not possible now 😔.

  2. I’m actually very curious about them, I’m just getting into cream blushes, I have bought the Honest one but it hasn’t arrived yet. Since we can’t return makeup products here in Italy I think I’m going to wait until I can see them in stores because I want one of each but I don’t know the shade yet. Probably Petal Poppin and Butta Biscuit but I’m not sure yet
