Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you two nail art manicures I created with January’s Maniology Mani X Me Monthly Express Kit. Maniology seems to be catering to themes one month ahead, so this month is a interesting take on Valentine’s Day: Heartbreaker! Now that is my kind of Valentine’s day theme. It’s edgy and cute. Make sure you check out my past reviews of this subscription box here.
The Mani X Me Monthly Box is a subscription service that delivers you Maniology nail art goodies every month. There are two different options: The Monthly Club and the Express Kit.
Monthly Club ($25 USD per month)
- 2 Exclusive Stamping Plates – Just for members!
- 2 New Coordinated Stamping Polishes
- A Surprise Gift Every Month
- Free U.S. Shipping
- Free Stamper & Scraper Set with your first express kit
Express Kit ($18 USD per month)
- 2 Exclusive Stamping Plates – Just for members!
- A Surprise Gift Every Month
- Free U.S. Shipping
- Free Stamper & Scraper Set with your first express kit
So far I have only gotten the Express kit. With shipping ($4 USD to Canada), in CAD the price turns out to be just over $30 CAD, which I think is fairly reasonable. One of the things that I love about this box is that you are given spoilers of the next month’s box a week before so that you can decide whether you want to skip a month or not. You can easily skip a month on the Maniology website without penalty. I love the flexibility that this subscription has!
So let’s get into this latest box!
January: Heartbreaker
Get ready to break some hearts. This month, we’re featuring designs and products inspired by vintage tattoos.
January’s kit came with two badass heart, rose and skull-themed plates and latex-free cuticle tape.
Mani #1
For this mani, I was largely inspired by the Maniology’s promotional pictures for this box. A nude mani with red and black designs stamped on top? Love! A lot of what they showed were designs simply stamped on a bare nail, but I used an actual nude base.
For this mani I painted all of my nails a jelly nude, and reverse stamped on designs that included skulls and roses that I had filled with red, white and green polishes. While I always have a hard time getting away from a glossy nail (because they are so beautiful!) I decided to go with a matte top coat for this one, and it really made the mani, I think.

Mani #2
For my second mani I wanted to focus on using more of the swallow/bird designs. I have always had an affinity for swallows, and these old school designs are just beautiful!
I wanted this mani to be a bit more glitz and glam, so I used a shimmery white base for all of my nails except my middle finger, on which I used gold with glitter. I then reverse stamped on all of the designs that included swallow artwork, using a variety of shimmery shades to fill in the designs. The designs on these plates really remind me of the cover art and artwork that can be seen in the 1996 Romeo and Juliet film (Baz Luhrmann) with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes that has some pretty strong Catholic tones to it and a lot of sacred heart imagery.

Final Thoughts
It’s been a year now, that I have been purchasing these kits, and I am still very much loving this service. The monthly themes are inspiring and fun. I love that each kit includes two plates, plus some sort of surprise item. But what I love the most is the flexibility of this subscription. I love that I can pick and choose which month I want to receive! It’s honestly all so worthwhile in my opinion.
I was actually surprised by how much I loved this month’s kit! I was on the edge of skipping this month, but I’m glad that I didn’t. It’s a different edgier version of Valentine’s day, with designs that can be used outside of V-day as well! The images are very cool, and very diverse. I was also surprised by how much I liked the cuticle tape. I have always used liquid latex and I have never seen a reason to try anything else, but it worked really well. If anything, the strips were too sticky. They adhered thoroughly to the cuticles, lol, REALLY protecting them.
Watch my video tutorial below to see how I created these two manis!
Disclaimer: I am a Maniology Ambassador (use code SUPERNOVA10 for 10% off your Maniology purchases), however, I purchase this kit every month with my own money and I am definitely not trying to sell you anything. Ambassador codes do not work with this subscription service, however they can be put towards other products, should you want to save some money and support a small scale blogger who puts a lot of money into content.
Lovely manicures ;-D
