Maniology Mani X Me Monthly Express Kit | Mosaic

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you two nail art manicures I created with August’s Maniology Mani X Me Monthly Express Kit. Yes, I know August was a long time ago, but I think these patterns and colour combinations are pretty Fall-y! Make sure you check out my past reviews of this subscription box here.

The Mani X Me Monthly Box is a subscription service that delivers you Maniology nail art goodies every month. There are two different options: The Monthly Club and the Express Kit.

Monthly Club ($25 USD per month)

  • 2 Exclusive Stamping Plates – Just for members!
  • 2 New Coordinated Stamping Polishes
  • A Surprise Gift Every Month
  • Free U.S. Shipping
  • Free Stamper & Scraper Set with your first express kit

Express Kit ($18 USD per month)

  • 2 Exclusive Stamping Plates – Just for members!
  • A Surprise Gift Every Month
  • Free U.S. Shipping
  • Free Stamper & Scraper Set with your first express kit

So far I have only gotten the Express kit. With shipping ($4 USD to Canada), in CAD the price turns out to be just over $30 CAD, which I think is fairly reasonable. One of the things that I love about this box is that you are given spoilers of the next month’s box a week before so that you can decide whether you want to skip a month or not. You can easily skip a month on the Maniology website without penalty. I love the flexibility that this subscription has!

So let’s get into this latest box!

August: Mosaic

Inspired by intricate ceramic tile mosaics and arabesque motifs, each item will help your next manicure transcend the boundaries of your creativity.

August’s kit came with two mosaic patterned plates, one of which with layerable designs and double sided foil that has gold or silver sides that can be used.

Mani #1

For this mani, I wanted to go with Fall harvest colours. I have been obsessed with the shade Citrine from Cirque Colours, so of course that shade had to be the star. I paired it with creams and browns to complete the look.

For this mani I used two different designs from the MXM013 plate with a brown stamping polish, and used the reverse stamping technique with yellows, golds and cream polishes. I love the effect full-nail reverse stamping has. So stunning!

Mani #2

For the next mani, I wanted to go with a deeper, vampier colour scheme. I recently ordered some more stamping polishes from Maniology, and a sparkly gunmetal grey and a shimmery wine purple really spoke to me for this mani in particular!

I started off the mani by applying some of the foil. I had seen plenty of manis done with the gold side, so I decided to go with the silver. I applied some base coat to the already dried base shade on my nails, and once that had dried for a minute or two I simply tapped on some foil and it stuck beautifully! This time around I used the layerable designs on the second plate, MXM014. I have a hate/love relationship with layerable designs. Layerable designs are usually unnecessary if you can do reverse stamping, which I feel I am pretty good at, at this point. However, it is a nice alternative if you don’t feel comfortable with that technique! My only problem is that it can be challenging to line the layers up just right, and now that I am filming my manis it is so hard to tell if I am layering them properly with still having my finger in frame. I usually like to layer by holding everything literally right in front of my face. Not possible when filming! Anyways, I did my best!

Also, I couldn’t decide whether I wanted this mani to be glossy or matte. Which do you like best? I usually have such a hard time covering the glossiness to make it matte. I just love the glossy look! The colours are always more vibrant.

Final Thoughts

I love how mosaic designs can elevate a mani. They look so detailed and professional, and can be worn any time of the year. Simply switch up the shades! I feel like I still got two very different manis even though they used similar patterns.
