Hey everyone! It’s time again to share my five most favourite products from the month before! It honestly feels like a new month rolls around every two weeks, instead of four! Time is going by so quickly!
So let’s get into my favourite products of March!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
I recently mentioned to Polished and Inspired that I have changed my opinions on this palette within the last year, and for the better too.
After purchasing it early last year I just wasn’t seeing what made it so special, since it is an expensive palette ($74 CAD). It has three different shades of finishing powder, with the middle shade being more luminescent and borderline sparkly. However, during last summer I used the more bronze-y shade as a finishing powder all over my cheeks to blend out my bronzer after application, and to add a more tan glow all over the face. I totally fell in love with using it for this purpose! Then throughout this winter I have been using the other two shades all over my face, and again to help blend out any bronzer or blush I’m using. The result is a really pretty glow on the skin, although you can look a bit sparkly in the sun, which doesn’t bother me.
The moral of the story is that I have used the crap out of this palette and I’m almost thinking I need to repurchase! The pans are so large, I pretty much can’t use it anymore. It’s funny how our opinions change, hey? Because I really do like it now lol. This might be a good item to repurchase during the VIB sale.
Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip “Juicy Date”
Ooh boy, I am loving these liquified lipsticks! They are promoted as a very pigmented balm, and that is just what they are like! The pigmentation is great, they are quite opaque, and the feeling on the lips is just like a balm. There is absolutely no sticky feeling, your lips feel hydrated, and the look on the lips is full pigment with just a tiny bit of shine. They also wear down gracefully! I will likely be doing a review on the two shades I have soon.
Buxom Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush “Seychelles”, “Dolly”, “Mykonos”
I purchased these three shades using my Rouge reward early this year, and at first, I didn’t like them! People have been raving about these blushes and I just wasn’t wowed, and found them difficult to work with. The main issue is they are VERY pigmented, so I think I was just getting into trouble when using them initially. I usually like decently pigmented blushes that I can build up gradually.
Since then I have played with them more and I do quite like them at this point. I do recommend proceeding with caution when using them though! I will dip in a couple times, tap off the excess, and lightly pat what is on the brush onto both cheeks , and then blend in the product on each side. With any other blush I would usually use that amount per cheek, but with these you can cover both cheeks. The trick is also to keep blending. But overall, all three of these shades are so pretty, and the lasting power is really nice. I can’t say that I see the luminosity some people talk about (you can see it in the swatches though), but they for sure aren’t matte.
Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin
This might be my new go-to foundation! After using Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless exclusively for two years, I am loving this Revlon one! I just don’t switch up my complexion favourites, because why? I want my skin to look perfect, I don’t like to experiment with that part of my routine. But after Revlon sent me this foundation in a different shade to try, a new door was opened and I went out and bought my current-ish shade.
I think it makes my skin look slightly more perfected, it has better coverage, and is just a bit more matte. I also think it lasts better throughout sweating etc. (my job is quite sweaty). I haven’t found my perfect shade yet (mainly because the retailers here don’t carry all the available shades; there are 43) so I am currently using 240 Medium Beige with a tiny bit of Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless 110 Porcelain to lighten it up. I really love the combination of the two formulas as well!
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin’s Thirst
After adding this to this month’s Fave Five I am sad to learn that this product has been discontinued! I have been using this sleeping mask as my night time moisturizer every second evening for a while now! It is definitely hydrating, and I like that you get a large amount for a small price ($35 CAD for 3.4 oz). My typical moisturizers are $60+ and you get half of the amount you get in this mask. So by using this every second night, I’m saving a bit of money in the long run! I could also see myself switching to this to be my only night cream if I wanted to.
So it appears what they have done is release two new masks to their Drink Up line: Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water, and Drink Up™ 10 Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water. I definitely want to try both of these, but I suppose the avocado one is replacing the current one I am using! I am kind of confused though because I was under the impression that this product was added to the line within the last 6 months, and there are reviews on Sephora from 2016…?
Well that’s it for my March Fave Five!
Wait, WTF?! They discontinued the Origins mask? Ughhh that sucks, it was one of my faves! But I guess you’re right, at least they kind of have a replacement for it.

I feel like Shoppers might have it still since they seem to be so slow to update stock, if you want to stock up!

You have hit serious pan on that hourglass palette! I definitely need to try those lipsticks, they sound great and I love the shade you showed here.
I hate when something I love is discontinued, that sucks about the origins mask. I hope the new masks work just as well.

I know, I almost can’t believe it! I really didn’t realize how much I liked this palette until I saw how big the pans had become!
You should definitely check out the Bobbi Brown lippies. Too bad they’re so expensive!!
The Origins mask probably would have worked well for you too since you have dry skin. I’ll probably try the Avocado one soon!

And it’s almost sad because Hourglass is so expensive!
I’ll have to consider the lipsticks for my VIB sale purchase. I have a giant list of things I want haha
awww darn! I have soo many masks though, I probably don’t need more lol

Oh my gosh, I destroyed my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette as well! It’s such a lovely product, isn’t it? It’s very pricey, sure, but such beautiful quality. I’ve never hit pan on anything else like I did with that palette!
I really must try out those Bobbi Brown liquid lips. Everyone’s been talking about how amazing they are!

Yes! I’ve hit pan on things like bronzer and brow pomade that I use every day, but never like this with a finishing powder! I have definitely been sad not getting its full effect since the pans are so large and it’s hard to get any product at this point (at least in the lighter shades)!

I hear you. It was a sad day when I finally tossed the palette away! I kept it for so long with almost no product in the pans cause I was desperate to use up every bit!

You really used that Hourglass palette! i’ve wanted it for a while but wasn’t sure I would use it enough to justify the price. I also run a bit oily so not sure if it would make me too shiny. I’d love to try out those Buxom blushes though!

Haha yes, I have! I was kind of disappointed after getting it because I didn’t think I’d end up using it that much either, but look at me now! I am on the oilier side too, but I don’t mind looking a little glowy! Honestly, it’s only the middle shade that has a little sparkle to it! And it’s not noticeable unless you are in direct sunlight, at least from what I have seen.

Yes I am really loving it, especially for work! It fares so much better during sweating and activity, and it seems more transfer-proof too!

I must be doing something wrong because I received one of those Bobbi Brown lippies from Influenster & while it did feel nice on the lips, it didn’t wear down gracefully for me at all & it smudged all over my face lol. That Overnight Mask sounds amazing… what a bummer that it’s been discontinued. 😦
