Hey everyone! Today I want to share with you a quick, light and easy makeup look I did with some products that Revlon sent over! The goal was to make a fresh and ethereal look, using some fun colours, and I love the impact of a bright lip with a light eye.
So if you want to know my first impressions on some Revlon products, and what I used to create this look, keep reading!
For this makeup look I used five different products from Revlon: a foundation, highlighting palette, some creme eyeshadows and a lip tint. For the categories that weren’t sent over (powder etc.), I used budget items from my collection.
Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin SPF 15 “Warm Golden”
“Our cult-favorite liquid foundation wears for up to 24 hours, no matter what life throws at you—that’s why we call it “life-tested”. The formula delivers a flawless matte finish, and is also oil-free and fortified with SPF 15, to help protect your skin. Provides medium-to-full, buildable coverage. Offered in 43 shades”
Upon first impression, I actually really liked this foundation! It definitely has medium coverage, but I didn’t try to build it, so full coverage could be possible too. Because the shade sent to me was quite dark, probably a good summer shade, I did mix in a different lighter foundation, so this may have impacted my experience. Regardless, this foundation went on really nicely with a sponge, and once set with powder it looked pretty flawless. It also seemed to stay matte for longer than I am used to, and I didn’t get as oily on my nose as fast as usual. I am intrigued and considering purchasing my proper shade!
Revlon PhotoReady Highlighting Palette “Galaxy Dream”
“Each highlighting palette has 4 shades; apply just 1 for a touch of radiance—use more to amplify the sheen. Galaxy Dream contains prismatic pastels with pearlized pigments for a holographic effect. You get easy-to-blend, smooth powder formulas in both palettes. And the shades are universally flattering, so you’re all good!”
This highlighter palette comes with four pastel shades: pink, green, purple and blue. While it is not holographic, the shades definitely do show up as unique colours and definitely add a highlight! I did, however, only use the pink and green for this look. The pink is on my cheek bones and tapped on my lids, and the green is on my inner corner. The one concern I do have with this palette is that at least two of the four shades are white-based (the pink and purple), so I do worry that they won’t blend into the skin as well for POC. I even noticed the pink shade looked a bit light on my skin. You can really see the white base in the swatches, but the glow is real in my sunlit photos!
Revlon ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow “Creme Brulee” and “Praline”
“Get ready to fall in love with our smooth, beautifully blendable cream eye shadows that are not only waterproof but they also last for up to 24 hours. Each one delivers highly pigmented matte or shimmer color (or just a wash of color if you sweep on a tiny dab). We included a built-in eye shadow brush in the cap to make every application easy. Ophthalmologist-tested.”
The two shades that were sent were Creme Brulee, a shimmering champagne, and Praline, a shimmering rose-beige. To keep with the ethereal theme, I wanted to create a pretty light eye look, and use basically only these shadows. I first applied Praline to the crease along with a little bit of bronzer to deepen it up. I then patted Creme Brulee on the lid, and topped it with the pink shade from the highlighter palette. Overall, I actually wasn’t too happy with these creme shadows. They did not apply smoothly, and made my lids look extra textured. While they look fine in the photos, in person it looked awful! I just can’t recommend these.
Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tint “Berry Lit” and “Wine Trip”
“You get the look of a lip stain—beautifully blotted, weightless color—with the lushness of a balm. The pillowy soft cushion tip helps to evenly distribute the tint and makes it easy to build for more impact. We infused the formula with coconut oil.”
The two shades that I received were Berry Lit, a creamy deep bright pink, and Wine Trip, a creamy deep red-purple. The shade I used in this look was Berry Lit, and it is such a beautiful fuchsia! To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of sponge applicators where you have to click up the product. This one is also massive, making precise application a little difficult. But I did like that you could either wear the product sheer, or super opaque like I did in this makeup look; it’s very buildable. The feeling on the lips just after application was slightly tacky, but the product layer was extremely thin. I wouldn’t say it felt as nourishing as a balm, but it didn’t feel dehydrating. It also faded pretty gracefully, and I was happy with the lasting power!
Overall, I think there are a few winners in this selection of Revlon products! The foundation definitely intrigues me. I have been a die-hard drugstore foundation wearer for years now, so to try and find a new one is really exciting! I usually don’t stray from my typical foundation because I love it so much, but now that I’ve tried this one, I might have to try my proper shade! The other winner for me are the lip tints. The formula and lasting power seem really nice, and I love that they have buildable colour. If you don’t want to go quite as opaque as I did, you can!
The product that strikes me as kind of meh is the highlighter palette. I don’t typically go for coloured highlights, and I’m not that happy that some of the shades are white-based and tend to appear stripe-like on the cheek, even on my light skin tone. BUT, if you are looking for a drugstore-priced pastel highlight palette, then I do think that this could be a contender. That being said, I haven’t tried other drugstore highlighting palettes, so there could be better formulas out there? Hard to say.
Lastly, I can’t recommend the cream eyeshadows. Although they look smooth and beautiful in their pots, they applied strangely textured on the eye! I have to admit, I’m a bit confused by the performance!
Have you tried any Revlon products lately? What is your favourite product from the brand? I LOVE their Super Lustrous Lipsticks and their Ultra HD Gel Lipcolors!
Disclaimer: These products were sent to me for review. As always, all of my opinions expressed here are never solicited and are entirely my own.
Max Factor do a range of shadows called Excess Shimmer – they are like cream/mousse shadows in a pot. I have the shade copper and it is seriously stunning, the shade applies smoothly and lasts all day and gives a great shimmer over top of other powder shadows 🙂

That eyeshadow is one of my most loved and it’s the kind of shade that goes with everything!

They stopped selling Max Factor in North America several years ago. I remember using them in the 80s & early 90s though. I think you can only find them in Europe now.

I’ve purchased my proper shade now and I am definitely loving it too! It seems to keep me more matte throughout the day and I really think my skin looks more perfected when using it! I have been using Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless exclusively for probably two years now, so I’m surprised that I have found another one that I love just as much!

Thank you so much! Even though I didn’t love the products I used, I like the overall look of the lighter eye and the heavier lip!
