Hello everyone! After multiple days of being both exhausted and busy after work, I’m here again to share with you my latest mani. For this week, I knew I wanted to do some sort of french manicure, potentially with some lace detail. Well you will see, I went all in on the lace.
One of the main reasons I decided to change my nail shape recently to be squared off is so that I can do some french manicures. I had been having a craving for them, but they just don’t work with my typical stiletto/almond shaped nails so now is my chance! And I am so happy with the results. What do you think?
- For this manicure, I started by applying my favourite base coat, Orly Bonder, to all of my nails.
- I painted all of my nails with a nude pink. This particular shade, Cirque Colors Reverie also has a purple shimmer/shift to it with scattered holographic sparkles, which really adds another subtle dimension to this mani.
- Once the polish was completely dried, I applied striping tape (you can also use regular scotch tape) across the tip of each nail to section off the french tip area, and then applied a white creme (China Glaze White on White). After painting each tip, I removed the striping tape immediately. To minimize risk of ripping/damaging potentially still-wet polish, I actually did the base colour (with top coat) one day before moving on to the french and lace stamping, but if you wait for the polish to be completely dry then you don’t need to do this mani over two days. That’s just how I like to do things. Or, you can freehand the french tip, I just like a precise line.
- To minimize clean up from stamping, I applied a liquid latex around my cuticles. Right now I’m really enjoying the Edge Perfection Easy Peel Polish Barrier.
- I then used the Uber Chic Beauty Love and Marriage 02 Stamping plate to transfer a lace pattern on to each nail using a white stamping polish (Born Pretty Store Stamping Polish “#4”). This plate comes with a large section of lace so you can choose different parts of the pattern to transfer on to different nails. I did this all with the Uber Chic Beauty XL clear jelly stamper.
- I then applied the Maniology No Smudge Nail Polish Top Coat and after that dried I then applied my regular glossy top coat to all of my nails (Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat).
When I first applied the nude pink polish, I was a little bored by how nude it appeared, even though the purple shift is gorgeous (this was a new shade to my collection). Well, the french and lace pattern really dressed it up, and the shade turned out to be the perfect subtle background!
Looks awesome, love it girl 🙂

These nails are so pretty! I love the new squared off nail shape. I wish I could grow my nails that long, they always break on me 😦

Thank you so much! I’m loving the shape too. Haha, I’m afraid what my natural nails will be like when I one day get these fakes taken off. The rehabilitation will take forever!

I’m currently trying to grow out my nails because they’re stained so yellow from polish right now, it’s the worst!
I wish there was a way to make your nails grow faster =/

Looks lovely as always, Nova 🙂 I think the shape is super cute but I personally do like a french manicure on the previous shape you had, too!!

Thank you so much! Good to know! I just thought it might look weird, and was ready for a change, however slight! 😛
