Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Boy… 2019, I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet.
I hope you all had a fun and safe New Years Eve. My Old Hollywood-themed party went well. I had a good time, although I’m not convinced it was worth what it cost, but I imagine that goes for most New Year’s parties. Here’s a quick pic of me ready to go to the party, as a Hollywood star from the 1920’s flapper era! Second time I’ve dressed as a flapper this year, who would have thought that that would be a repeat thing for me. You might recognize that head piece from my Halloween post!
Anyways, for all of December I had quite a few glowy and bright favourites to match the season. Some products were new to me, whereas others were seasonal favourites that I don’t often use, so now was the opportunity!
So let’s get into my favourites for December 2018!
I ordered this glow kit when it was on sale recently at Sephora, and I am so glad that I did! I’m pretty sure when this glow kit first released I was:
- Slightly interested, as it did seem really pretty.
- Annoyed because ABH was releasing a million glow kits in a row. Like let it go already.
But once it went on sale for half price, it was mine!! All of the shades are so beautiful and unique among themselves. At first glance some of the pans might look too dark for those who are lighter in skin tone, and they might be for those that are fair, but all of these highlighters apply lighter than they appear in the pan. Marshmallow is a white/light gold duochrome, Gumdrop is a bright, light pink/gold duochrome, Butterscotch is a classic light gold and Starburst is a light pink that almost looks white on (in a good bright way, not a stark white streak way). Anyways, since I’ve gotten this glow kit, I’ve used nothing else! The palette is also nicely weighted and the pans are huge!
In December I was lucky enough to receive another PR package from Pixi Beauty including two of their PixiGlow Cakes which are gradient face palettes that are meant to be glowy! I will be posting a review of these products within the next week or so, but as a sneak peak, the shade PinkChampagne Glow has been my absolute favourite! I’ve been using this face palette almost every day. The bronzer and the blush are very pretty and buildable, and I use the lighter pink shade on the far left as a blush topper. Perfect for that New Year’s glow!
If you’ve been keeping up with my blog you will know that I have been recently LOVING this mini glitter set from Sephora!
- I’ve been wishing for a loose glitter variety pack ever since ABH released their glitters
- It went on sale and is currently STILL on sale for $9 CAD (from $17 CAD)!!!
- The glitters are the perfect diameter (microglitter) and stick extremely well to a glitter primer; literally no fallout throughout the day in my experience.
I have reviewed these glitters in full, so you can check that out and some eye looks if you like here! I have yet to use the silver and pink glitters, but I can’t wait to break those out for Valentine’s Day!
Back in October I reviewed the full line of Pixi Beauty MatteLast Liquid Lips, as the full range was sent to me for review. By far, the shade “Real Red” was the most impressive in terms of pure pigmentation and the tone of red! I knew at once I would be wearing it for the holidays, and so I have! It is such a pretty bright shade of true red that makes your teeth look whiter. On top of all that, these liquid lipsticks are very comfortable and have a relatively good staying power! If you want to see my full review of these liquid lips and lip swatches of all the shades, check it out here!
This is another liquid lip formula that is actually really pleasant to wear, and the shade “Lost” is a beautiful semi-deep berry red. It’s a bit deeper than the Pixi shade, making it feel the tiniest bit more wearable to me. I trust this formula slightly more with longevity. It will last a bit longer through eating and seems to take longer to fade with drinking etc. Either way, both are favourite lippies of mine!
Well that’s it for my December Fave Five!
