Hey everyone! Today I have a super fun collab post with my favourite blogger, Always Cleia! I thought after almost a year of friendship, it was about time for us to do a collab! And now is certainly the perfect time, as we have teamed up to bring you four ways to style a vampy lip.
In this collaboration, both Cleia and I will be giving you four specific vampy lip product suggestions, and how to style them with the rest of your makeup. In this post, you will be able to see one look from me and another from Cleia. And if you go to Cleia’s post, you can see another look from her, and my second look as well! So please be sure to check out Cleia’s blog so that you can see two more look ideas!
There’s just something so striking about a vampy lip in Fall. You see it so often in Instagram posts this time of year, and boy does it make me want to rock one! But, I think a lot of us can feel some hesitation when approaching the vampy lip. Mainly, what makeup do I pair it with? Well I’m here to tell you, pair it with anything. More and more people are breaking makeup “rules” every day. But, if you are looking for some specific examples, keep reading!
Ciate London Glitter Flip in “Iconic”
I think the most classic way to wear a vampy lip is to go light on the eye. Most people are all about “balancing” a look, and that’s certainly how I usually roll. For my day-to-day I usually go heavier or more colourful on the eyeshadow, and then more neutral on the lip. I love having my eyeshadow be the star of the show. However, when you are wearing a vampy lip, like the Ciate London Glitter Flip in the shade “Iconic”, it is certainly the star of the show!!!
For this first look, I went pretty light (for me) on the eye, just accentuating the crease slightly, and adding a lighter shade on the lid. I went with cooler, but more neutral shades from my favourite cool-toned palette, Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons. I find that a winged eyeliner really helps to ground any look, and it certainly adds a touch of glam (and this lipstick calls for glam!). So, I added on a heavier winged eyeliner with the Sephora Colorful Wink-It Felt Liner in “Little Black Dress” and the Ardell Faux Mink 811 false lashes. I left my lower lash line very bare, with minimal mascara, to give more of a doe-eyed look.
I think I succeeded in still having an overall glam look, but it is still balanced, and allows the lipstick to be the star of the show.
Fenty Beauty Plush Matte Lipstick in “Griselda” from Always Cleia!
“I don’t own a lot of dark lipsticks… I’m often nervous to wear them out of the house for fear of them smudging all over my face. I took a chance on this Fenty Beauty Plush Matte Lipstick when it was available as a points reward at Sephora and I’m happy I did. It can be a bit drying over the course of the day but it also stays put. The shade Griselda is unique to my lipstick collection, I don’t have anything quite like it.
Unlike the look I did over on my blog this lipstick is more purple than red toned. I’m not one for a dark smokey eye so I wanted to pair this lipstick with a more shimmery everyday eye look. On my eyes is the Too Faced Natural Love Palette, I used the shades Nudie, Cutie Patootie and Chocolate Martini! Nova has a review of this palette on her blog if you want to check it out!”
Doesn’t she look beautiful? I just love that lip shade!
Well, that’s all we have for our vampy lip suggestions here! But don’t forget to go check out Cleia’s post for one more look idea from each of us! And believe me, you aren’t going to want to miss them!
