🌻☀️May & June Look Book☀️🌻

Hey everyone! Some of you may have noticed that I didn’t actually post a look book for May, because I just didn’t feel that there was enough content there. I had been so busy with school, it just wasn’t possible. Therefore, this time around I decided to combine both May and June’s Look Books. So let’s take a walk through these last two months.

During May, Always Cleia and I hosted a Spring into Summer Instagram Photo Challenge, of which this was the first day: Fave New Product. Mon Guerlain has become my signature, daily scent. Vanilla, Jasmine and Lavender, what more can you ask for?

A drugstore lip product that has become a favourite of mine over the last few months has been the L’Oreal Colour Riche High Shine Lipsticks. These are basically glosses in a tube. They are so comfortable to wear, and give you the nice glossy shine that is becoming so popular these days!

On May the Fourth Be With You, I surprised myself by attempting to create a Star Wars themed look. I have never been interested in Star Wars, but I love doing themed looks! I created this look, based on inspiration from the Last Jedi movie poster. Check out my instagram post to see the poster.

During the second week of May I dropped off the map a bit, largely because I was in Newfoundland! Newfoundland is truly the windiest place I have ever been, and this is one case where a photo actually turned out ok! This photo was taken at Cape Spear, the Easternmost point in North America. Pretty cool!

Towards the end of May, things got really summery where I live, so I had a ton of fun creating this “Bronzed Goddess” look for the instagram challenge. Gave me an excuse to wear the newest bronze-y lipstick by Urban Decay from the Beached Collection: “Heatwave”. I thought that this shade might be pretty similar to “Scorched” from the Naked Heat Collection, but that shade has more brown, whereas “Heatwave” has more orange/amber to it. So pretty!

For the whole month of May I was totally obsessed with this nail colour from OPI: “Bright Lights – Big Color”. It is such a pretty coral with a gold shimmer to it, which inspired me to get a little creative and drip some liquid highlighter (Moonlight from Cover FX) all over my hand for an artsy look.

Back in January, one of the brands that I decided that I wanted to try in 2018 was Juvia’s place, and this month I finally did it! During an online sale I ordered two palettes, one of which was the Zulu Palette, which I have now featured multiple times on my blog. I just loved how this teal look turned out! This was actually my very first featured Eye Look of the Week.

Drool. This is my favourite nail polish shade of all time. I have been wearing it for probably 8 years, and have gone through multiple bottles of it. The shade is “108 Degrees” from China Glaze. Photos just cannot do it justice. It is the sexiest saturated hot pink with pink microglitters. If you ever see this shade, you must pick it up!!!

This was my favourite look that I created with the Juvia’s Place Zulu Palette. I brought the shadow up quite high onto my brow bone, but I really wanted to do a detailed gradient. I am very happy with how those shadows perform! Check out my full review here.

In the Spring I decided to branch out a bit and get a few KL Polish shades that had been released before I became aware of the brand. One of those shades was “Ocean Drive” from the Summer 2017 collection. Isn’t it just stunning?! This comes off more deep green indoors, making it perfect for multiple seasons. I think it would be amazing for the winter as well.

This is the blue that all dreams are made of. “Matanzas” from the KL Polish Havana Heat Summer 2018 Collection is the most stunning metallic blue I have ever set my eyes upon. I could basically throw all of my blue polishes away and I would be happy to just have this one! Be sure to check out my full review on the Summer 2018 collection tomorrow on my blog.

Another really fun eyeshadow palette that I managed to get my hands on this month was the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe palette that was included in this month’s BoxyCharm. I unsubscribed from BoxyCharm a while ago, but people in my community are constantly selling Boxy items that they don’t want, so I was able to pick it up for only $10!! Lucky me! Check out all of my initial thoughts on this palette here. HINT: The metallics are INCREDIBLE.

Just before I left for my road trip to the US, a bunch of my friends and I went out for dinner to a Teppanyaki restaurant to celebrate handing in my MSc thesis. Of course I decided to end the night with a friend by driving to the top of our local mountain to check out the 360 degree view of our city, the setting sun, and take some photos. Apparently my highlight was blinding. I’m pretty sure it was “Beach Nectar” from the Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face palette.

I finished off the end of this month by going on vacation! This was day 3 I believe of the road trip portion of my trip, where we were driving from Billings, Montana to Rapid City, South Dakota. I actually had time to throw a bit on makeup on that day, yay!

Well, that’s it for these last two months! What looks did you create? What type of looks or nails would you like to see me do during July??

  1. How were the KL polishes? Did they dry fast? Both the green & blue are sooo pretty. The UD Heatwave lipstick looks amazing on you, wow!! & so does the Chrissie Tiegen highlighter. 😍

    1. I am actually posting a review of the KL Polish Havana Heat Collection tomorrow, but yes, their metallics do dry really fast! Their cremes also dry faster than other brands too, just not as fast as the metallics. Thank you for the compliments! I definitely need to make a point of wearing that lipstick more! It is such a fun shade!

      1. Looking forward to your KL review. 😉 I found the same thing with the Color Club nail lacquers. The holographic ones dry super fast compared to the regular & matte ones.
