Haulage | Shoppers Drug Mart Super Spend Your Points Event

Hello everyone, happy Wednesday! Tomorrow, I go on vacation, and I can’t believe it! I finally finished and submitted my thesis last week, so now it is time to recuperate and relax before my thesis defence in August. And this brings me to today’s post. What better way is there to relax than to buy makeup? That’s always been my motto.

Shoppers Drug Mart is a popular pharmacy retailer in Canada, that also sells a range of cosmetic brands. One thing that is annoying about Shoppers is that their prices are usually the highest of all drugstores in Canada. However, I love Shoppers because they not only carry typical drugstore brands, they also sell products from select high end companies like Urban Decay and Smashbox. Over the last year I have been trying to buy as much as I can from Shoppers as opposed to retailers like Sephora, because their points program is 1000X better. Not only do you actually earn money towards future purchases, but they are constantly running promotions that can earn you a ton of extra points. It really doesn’t take long to save up $50 in points if you take advantage of the various points promotions that they hold.

A new and even more exciting development is that they have started to hold Super Spend Your Points Events, where the points that you have accumulated are worth even more! During these events, when you spend $50 in points or more, your points are actually worth 25% more than they usually would be. For example, if you spent $80 in points, you could actually buy $100 in products with your points.

While these spend your points events are obviously an amazing deal, clearly the idea behind it is to get you to spend your points so that there is incentive to again save up, and spend more money, instead of just saving your points forever and not really buying anything. But regardless of their motive, it worked on me!

Well, when they held the first one of these events back in April, I jumped on it. I had just over $100 in points saved, so I decided to splurge on some higher end products that I would never buy with real money. So let’s get into this mini haul!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

Price: $25 CAD each
Product Description: “This is not your average eyeliner. Creamy, forever-lasting, award-winning and waterproof, 24/7 pencils delight you with lush tropical hues, deep metallics, and unusually vibrant neutrals. The best Eyeliner Pencil ever, ever, ever!”

“Deep End”: Bright metallic peacock shimmer
“Psychedelic Sister”: Bright purple cream

I love Urban Decay eyeliners. They are very pigmented and the shade range is incredible! Companies other than Urban Decay really don’t put out coloured eyeliners like they do! I figured that the blue would be awesome for summer looks, and that the purple would work year-round. So far I have used the blue, and it is gorgeous, but have not used the purple.

Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow

Price: $31 CAD each
Product Description: “A long-wearing, high-shimmer liquid eyeshadow.”

“La Douce”: Shimmering warm gold green.
“Jezebel”: Shimmering rose gold.

I know I have said before on my blog that I would never buy one of these liquid eyeshadows because they are so expensive, so this points event was my time to shine! I have actually already featured Jezebel in a Fave Five (this haul happened a while ago), as it is truly my favourite eyeshadow to wear these days. Actually, I am wearing it right now as I am writing this! Anyways, I absolutely love both of these shades. I was also actually surprised that there is a little bit of glitter in these, they aren’t just smooth shimmers. But the glitter is no where near the level of the Glitter & Glows, so they are still very wearable.

Below are swatches of all the products and some looks that I have created with them. I haven’t actually used the purple eyeliner yet, so there’s no example of what that one looks like yet.

Perfume Samples

Usually when you spend a larger amount of money you will be given perfume samples, or maybe even a skin care sample. This time around I received two samples of Coach perfumes, and I actually really love them both! Especially the Floral one, which is bizarre since I am almost never attracted to floral scents.

Coach Eau de Parfum

“Top Notes: Raspberry Leaves. Heart Notes: Turkish Roses Sophisticated. Dry Down Notes: Suede Musks.”

Coach Floral Eau de Parfum

“A floral fruity fragrance inspired by Coach’s Tea Rose leatherwear collection. Modern and feminine, Coach Floral evokes the lightness of a warm summer day. The scent opens with a splash of citrus and pink peppercorn to end on an enveloping dry-down of elegant creamy wood, patchouli essence and musky notes.”

I might buy that Coach Floral Eau de Parfum!

My total with the four products was $112 CAD. You can only redeem at certain points levels, so I redeemed $80 in points, which actually counted for $100. Therefore, I paid the remaining $12 plus tax. Pretty good deal right?

Overall, I was super stoked to see that they were beginning to offer these spend your points events! They have also held more since this first one that I attended, so clearly they are going to be a regular thing!

Have you taken advantage of the Super Spend Your Points Events? What products did you decide to splurge on?

  1. I love the Super Spend Your Points events! Shoppers by far has the best points redemption program. They do have a pretty good selection of brands already, but I do hope they continue expanding.

You made some great choices with your points! The UD 24/7 liners are always so fun to wear. I already have my eye on one of the Smmer & Glow liquid eyeshadow shades and will get it with my points next time they have one of these events!

    1. Yes I’m so glad you agree! I really do think that Shoppers is trying to become more and more competitive, so I bet they will keep expanding the brands that they carry!
