Wow! or Waste? Becca x Chrissy Teigen Endless Summer Glow Collection

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Wow! or Waste? Whether a whole collection has been launched, or just a new product, I’m going to evaluate whether each product is either a Wow! buy or a Waste? of money, in terms of the price and the amount of product you get.

This time around we are evaluating the new Becca x Chrissy Teigen Endless Summer Glow Collection, which launches on June 28, 2018 on the Becca, Sephora and Cult Beauty websites.

“Limited edition glow products created in collaboration with California-cool beauty, model & mom, Chrissy Teigen! Inspired by the irresistible glow of sun-kissed skin, the Endless Summer Glow Collection features 3 brand-new, limited-edition products perfect for achieving an endless summer glow – all year round.”

Becca x Chrissy Teigen Endless Bronze & Glow

Product Information

“A limited edition three-in-one compact that includes everything you need to create an endless summer bronzed glow. Created in collaboration with Becca Glow Queen, Chrissy Teigen, the three-in-one compact features two of our award-winning Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighters and a brand-new shade of our Sunlit Bronzer. Transport yourself to the beach with three irrestistible shades designed to create an endless summer glow – all year round.”

Shades Included:

Sunlit Bronzer “Aloha Bronze”: A warm bronzey shade perfect for creating a sun-kissed glow
Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter “Beach Nectar”: A juicy apricot with gold that adds flush of colour and glow. *This is the same shade that was in the Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette*
Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter “Moonstone”: A light, incandescent gold with an ultra-buttery texture melts into skin for the ultimate, beaming summer glow.

Price and Quantity

This bronzer/highlighter is priced at $46 CAD ($38 USD) and has 0.25 oz of product.

Because the strips within this product can be used separately or all together, I’ve included both glowy bronzers and highlighters in the comparison. You will notice that I have a lot of Becca and Too Faced products in the comparisons, and that is largely because this product is pretty unique, so it doesn’t compare well to a lot of products. Additionally, Becca and Too Faced have some of the best glowy bronzers out there, in my opinion.

Here are the comparisons listed from best value to worst value:

Rank Product  Cost
($ CAD)
Quantity (oz) Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 Too Faced Love Light $38 0.32 $119/oz
2 Too Faced Chocolate Gold Soleil/Sun Bunny $38 0.28 $136/oz
3 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer $63 0.39 $162/oz
4 Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed $46 0.28 $164/oz
5 Becca x Chrissy Teigen Endless Bronze & Glow $46 0.25 $184/oz
5 Becca Gradient Sunlit Bronzer $46 0.25 $184/oz
5 Becca Sunlit Bronzer $46 0.25 $184/oz
6 Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer $38 0.19 $200/oz

Wow! or Waste?

Overall, you can see that this product ranks very middle of the line, but is on the edge of being poor value, so it could be considered either a Waste? or neither. However, all of the products that ranked above it really can’t be total replacements for this product, since none of them include all of the shades/types of product included. I would say the most similar product to this one is the Becca Gradient Sunlit Bronzer, which includes multiple bronzer shades, as well as one highlighter shade, which I have now reviewed. Honestly, overall you are paying for the variety of shades that you get in this compact, and I don’t mind that if it is truly a unique product. I will likely be getting this because I love the idea of mixing moonstone, beach nectar, and a bronzer together.

Price and Quantity

These lipglosses are priced the same as the other Becca Glow Lip Glosses at $27 CAD ($22 USD) for 0.18 oz of product.

For comparisons to other products, I have just chosen other high end glosses that are popular or new at retailers like Sephora.

Here are the comparisons listed from best value to worst value:

Rank Product  Cost
($ CAD)
Quantity (oz) Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb $23 0.3 $77/oz
2 Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss $23 0.23 $100/oz
3 Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss $21 0.16 $131/oz
4 Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Lip Gloss $27 0.18 $150/oz
5 Buxom Full-on Lip Polish/Cream $24 0.15 $160/oz
6 Huda Beauty Lip Strobe $23 0.14 $164/oz
7 Tarte H2O Lip Gloss $23 0.14 $170/oz
8 bareMinerals GEN NUDE Buttercream Lip Gloss $23 0.13 $177/oz
9 Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer $35 0.16 $219/oz

Wow! or Waste?

Overall, these Becca glosses are pretty middle of the line, making them neither a Wow! or a Waste? However, I personally feel that they lean towards being a Wow!, or a slightly better deal, for multiple reasons.

First of all, the Fenty Gloss Bomb is an amazing gloss, and I would totally recommend it. However, it only comes in one shade, so it’s hard to really compare the two since you are limited by the non-existent shade selection.

Secondly, I know so many people have given the new UD Hi-Fi Shine glosses a good review, but I really did not like the one I tried. It was viscous, sticky, and it gave me those nasty white lines of gathered product (read my full review here). So I cannot recommend that one, even if it is a better deal.

Thirdly, the ABH lipglosses are my holy grail, so I totally recommend them. However, they are absolutely a different kind of gloss from these. The ABH glosses are OPAQUE, which is amazing and unique for a gloss. These are pigmented, but lean more on the side of a sheer wash of colour.

Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Body Oil

Product Information

“Lightweight body oil infused with an irresistible, summer aroma that illuminates the skin and hair.

We’ve captured the essence of summer (or vacation) in a bottle! The captivating fragrance – an addictive, sultry solar aroma infused with soft, lush floral, Italian Bergamot and exotic, warm sandalwood notes – instantly transports you to a soft sand beach where summer never ends. Skin drinks up moisturizing oil and reflects a touch of shimmer for a silky soft, sun-kissed glow. Looks, feels, and smells exactly like the afternoon sun hitting your still-wet-from-the-ocean-skin.

Apply anywhere you want moisture and an endless summer glow – including body and hair.”

Includes olive oil and jojoba oil to moisturize and soften the skin, as well as vitamin E as an antioxidant.

Price and Quantity

This body oil is priced at $51 CAD ($42 USD) and has 3.5 oz of product. Really, not many other body glow products came to mind when seeing this, other than the recently released Fenty Body Lava Body Luminizer and the Sol de Janeiro Glow Oils. However, I did find a few other products to compare to. It’s hard to know how similar or dissimilar these products are since we haven’t actually seen a swatch of this oil. How much shimmer is really in there?

Here are the comparisons listed from best value to worst value:

Rank Product  Cost
($ CAD)
Quantity (oz) Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Body Oil $51 3.5 $14.6/oz
2 Herbivore Rose Quartz Illuminating Body Oil $60 4 $15/oz
3 Sol de Janeiro Glow Oils $44 2.5 $17/oz
4 Fenty Body Lava Body Luminizer $69 3 $23/oz
5 Moroccanoil Shimmering Body Oil $54 1.7 $32/oz

Wow! or Waste?

Well, this product seems to be a clear Wow! However, it is quite an expensive up front purchase. These body luminizers always seem to come with a lot of product, which makes sense since you are presumably using them on a large surface area. It’s just too bad that you have to shell out so much money to try them. But at least you know with this body glow that you will be getting a good value! I don’t typically use products like this, so I won’t be splurging on this one.

Overall Collection Value

Overall, this collection was pretty small, and was nothing special in value. Two of the three products released are basically just shade variations on existing products, although I do like how unique the shades are in the Endless Bronze & Glow. I also love those lipglosses, so the value isn’t incredibly important since I already know that the formula is particularly good. It is good that the only truly new product, the Body Glow Oil does actually have good value, so that may help your decision with whether you want to try it out or not.

Here is the overview of what we have learned through this Becca X Chrissy Teigen Endless Summer Glow Collection edition of Wow! or Waste?

Product Product Category Rank Within category Wow! or Waste?

  1. I LOVE Becca but I keep feeling underwhelmed by their releases for some reason. The packaging of the bronzer looks BEAUTIFUL and I kind of want it just for the packaging, but I feel like the shade will probably be similar to something they have already released in the past. I guess there is only so much a brand can do when they are known for their highlighters and bronzers – how many variations of highlighter/bronzer shades can you release without any overlap?

That being said, good to know about the value of the products – great post!

    1. It’s very true, nothing was truly new or inspired in this collection, maybe aside from the body glow oil. But that’s just a product that is never going to get me excited, and I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way.
I was mainly excited for the glosses, because I know that I like that formula. And I was intrigued by the bronze and glow, which I did end up purchasing.

  2. I love Becca, but I just don’t feel anything for this collection. It doesn’t scream out at me and I don’t get excited for it, which makes me super sad. It looks beautiful though.

    1. I totally understand. I have purchased one of the lip glosses and it looks like a pretty colour but I haven’t tried it yet (Beach Bum). I also got the Endless Bronze & Glow, and I used that for the first time today and it is very pretty. However, I haven’t tried using all the shades mixed together yet! But overall, none of the products released in this collection were very unique.
