If I could only keep one… TAG| Makeup Products

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to do a fun tag post that discusses if I could only keep one makeup product from each category, which would it be? I first found about about this tag from Kelly Gooch on Youtube. Now, you are going to see lots of my favourites in here that I have mentioned in many blog posts in the past. However, the specific items that I have chosen were because they would be suitable for every day use. Therefore, for some of these, I might have a product I prefer, but it isn’t suitable for every day.

So let’s get into it!

Primer: Too Faced Primed and Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer

A lot of my base products are definitely my everyday, and I don’t vary from them very often. This primer is one of those items. I like to use this primer on my nose to fill my pores and it does help prevent oil from coming through! I still have to blot halfway through the day, but not until the 5-6 hour mark. View my original review here.

Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless

This is my favourite foundation of life! It has a really nice natural finish (not matte even though it says matte) if you don’t set it, but I do usually set it with powder. It has medium buildable coverage and I like to apply it with a sponge. It wears very well throughout the day and it totally survives through working out! Miracles I say! Check out my original review here.

Concealer: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer

This is the concealer that I like to use on my undereyes. It’s more liquidy and hydrating than more thick and creamy concealers. You also don’t really need to set it with powder. I do get creasing, but it is very minimal and creasing happens with all products that I use anyways! Read my original review here.

Setting Powder: Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder

This is such a great loose powder that really sets your foundation. I press it into the skin with a damp sponge and my foundation looks great all day! This powder is also tinted, so it won’t give you flashback and it probably gives a little extra coverage too! One warning, the shades run extremely dark, so actually look at the shades before purchasing. I am light-medium in skin tone and I use the Fair-Light shade.

Bronzer: Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer “Light Bronzer”

I love to use this bronzer to build up my bronzing base. It is neutral-warm, and blends so smoothly! I usually apply this on my cheekbones and all over the periphery of my face. Then I will deepen up as necessary with other bronzers. However, this bronzer on its own is totally buildable.

Blush: Benefit Cosmetics GALifornia Blush

While not being neutral, this coral blush just seems to go with everything! It really brightens up my complexion and just gives life to my cheeks! It cannot be replaced! You can see a swatch here.

Highlighter: Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick “Champagne Flash”

I have definitely gushed about this highlighter before! This cream formula is super easy to work with, whether you are applying it over powder or not. I use a sponge to apply, and you can either apply one layer to give you a natural glow, or two layers to really give you that blinding look. It doesn’t emphasize texture either! This champagne shade will also go with everything, so it is perfect for everyday wear! Check out my full review here.

Eyeshadow Palette: Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette

If it isn’t already obvious, this is the perfect every day palette with a slight twist. Of course you get plenty of stunning neutrals, but the shimmers are to die for in this palette as well. If I only owned this one palette, I would be totally happy. As things are now, this is my most used palette! Read my review and see some looks with it here.

Liquid Eyeshadow: Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow “Jezebel”

liquid eyeshadow

Alright, I feel like choosing a liquid eyeshadow as well as an eyeshadow palette is a bit of a cheat, but whatever! This liquid eyeshadow in Jezebel is truly stunning, and I will never stop using it! Never! It’s such a stunning shimmery rose gold, although more on the rose side.

Liquid Eyeliner: Kat Von D Ink Liner “Trooper”

liquid eyeliner

I actually have two eyeliners that I could pick as my top. This one, and the Sephora Colorful Wink-It Felt Liner. They are both felt-tip eyeliners, this KVD one is just a little pointer. Either way, this eyeliner is so easy to use, VERY black (way better than the Tattoo liner in my opinion), and allows you to be very precise. I wear liquid eyeliner everyday, and this one is great!

Pencil Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil “Perversion”

eyeliner pencil

This pencil eyeliner is very black, which is exactly what I go for with pencil liners. It stays pretty pigmented on my waterline, although it does move around a bit into my tear duct and the outer corner of my eye. But I haven’t found any liners that stay completely put on my waterline, so this one is just fine!

Mascara: Covergirl Supersizer

This is definitely one of my favourite mascaras! It is multifunctional too with the shape of the wand. Parts of the wand are bristled so you can comb through the product, whereas some areas of the wand are flat and paddle-shaped, so you can build up the product. This mascara never flakes on me, and the brush is very narrow so it’s super easy to coat the lower lashes.

Brow Product: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade “Medium Brown’

brow product

This brow product never lets me down. And I have been using it for at least 3 years now! It’s easy to use on its own, although I do like to use a brow pencil with it too, if I had the luxury of using multiple products. But this is my main brow product!

Lip Product: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss “Kristen”

And finally! If I had to choose one lip product, it would be the ABH gloss in Kristen. This shade is the perfect brown/rosy neutral. It goes with everything, and I wear it super often! I have even gone through a full tube of this! Read my full review and see swatches here.

Well, those would be all of my picks if I could only keep one from each makeup category! Which would your picks be? Have you used any of these items?

  1. Love your choices! Do you find the Tarte Aqua concealer high coverage enough for the under eye area? I love concealers with a more watery consistency because they are less prone to caking up, but then sometimes the coverage isn’t as good.

What’s the difference between the KVD Ink Liner and the Tattoo Liner (besides Ink Liner being more black)? I am a die-hard fan of the Tattoo Liner but am always on the search for a better liquid liner!

Love the ABH Brow Pomade too (agree it’s best used with other products if you have that luxury) – and I still need to get my hands on the Soft Glam palette! Maybe during the November VIB sale…

    1. The Tarte Aquacealer definitely has enough coverage for me, but I do not have any discolouration under my eyes, so I don’t find that I need a lot. But I do think the amount of coverage this concealer gives is surprising given the consistency of it!
The main difference between the Ink Liner and Tattoo liner is basically exactly what you said, the Ink Liner is a lot more pigmented, which is important to me. I found the Tattoo liner so watery so I don’t get why everyone loves it. The Tattoo liner also has a brush tip, whereas the Ink liner has a felt tip. I’ve always used felt tip liners and this one is great.

      1. Good to know, I will definitely have to ask for a sample of the Aquacealer to try! It sounds lovely 🙂

Okay, I have never had good luck with felt tip liners! Am intrigued about the pigmentation, though. I’m going to spring for the Ink Liner next time instead of the Tattoo Liner!

  2. Lots of classics! Good choices!
And I have exactly the same question as polishedandinspired: what the difference between the trooper and the tattoo liner?

    1. Thank you! The Ink Liner is a lot more pigmented and black than the Tattoo liner. The Tattoo liner also has a brush tip, whereas the Ink liner has a felt tip. I think a lot of people prefer the Tattoo liner because of the brush tip, but I’ve always used felt tip liners and they are very easy to work with.

  3. This tag looks fun! It’s so hard to decide which products are my all time favourites.
I think the Maybelline Fit Me would also be one of my top picks, and I’m not surprised that the Butter Bronzer is in there!

  4. Completely agree about the Maybelline Fit Me Setting Powder! It’s my holy grail! Great post! Love the idea and Kelly Gooch is great! Thanks for sharing 😊

  5. I love the Covergirl super sizer, it’s such a great mascara! I’ve repurchased it over and over again!

  6. Thank you so much for the nomination, this tag is so cool! I agree with a lot of your answers, like the gloss, bronzer and loose powder. I bought the loose powder because of your recommendation and I love it

  7. I love this tag thank you for tagging me! I just got the Physician’s Formula bronzer, but I need to replace my liner because I run out of the tattoo liner from KVD, do you thing the ink one is better? I mean of course you do but how long does it last before drying out? Because I got the tattoo liner to more than a year ago and just ran out of it 😱😱😱

    1. Well I have to say that there is no way the Ink liner will last you a year… But I have never found a liner that has lasted that long! I do, however, wear liquid eyeliner everyday though.
I do think the Ink liner is better, but mostly because I like that it is more black!
