Hello everyone! How is May treating you so far? I have been incredibly busy preparing for my trip to Newfoundland! I’m presenting at a conference, so I have been Powerpointing away. This is why you may have noticed me posting less than usual. I leave on the 6th, and I will be back home on the 12th. I will still be attempting to post while I am away though. Wish me luck!
Looking back at this month, I am shocked to see how many eye looks and manicures I did! I don’t think I’ve ever changed my nails this much in a month! I usually only paint them once a week, but I guess since I bought some new polishes I was excited to use them.
Well, without further adieu, let’s take a look back through this last month.
Not only did the month start with April Fool’s as usual, it started with Easter as well! This was by far my favourite manicure that I did for my Easter 2018 post.
This month I also started out by doing this super summery eye look. The weather over Easter weekend was freaking beautiful. So much so, that it inspired me to not only overhaul my garden, but experiment with these sunset-y shades. I think it turned out really well 🙂 You can get all of the details on the products I used here.
One palette that I am so cherishing is this Sephora PRO Editorial. I haven’t dipped into it a ton, but it is so handy having it for colourful looks! I can’t wait to really dig into it in May.
One of my Palette Roulette posts this month featured the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, which I used to create the above three looks! That palette is seriously one of my favourites, and it is perfect for spring!
I was so excited to go back to my local Birds of Prey Centre so that I could visit more Raptors! PS, I love birds. I had been there once before last year, and I just loved it. This little darling is Bell, a Saker Falcon. Her species isn’t local, but she’s so adorable isn’t she? You can tell she is happy and comfortable because she has her fluffy little underpants showing (down feathers).
Boy, was I excited to finally receive the KL Polish Ethereal Garden Collection this month! After taking 9 days to finally ship, it finally made its way here. Of course, the first shade I had to dip into was Charmed (with Dream Boy underneath), the clear stunner of the collection.
One shadow product that has become a daily go to is the Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot in the shade “Park Ave Princess”. I know it is going to continue being one of my favourite shadows into the summer. Gotta love that bronze-y eye! You can read my full review on this product here.
The second shade from the KL Polish Spring Collection I decided to try was Pinky. Surprisingly, this might be one of my favourite shades in the whole collection! I thought it wasn’t going to be anything special, but I just love how this manicure turned out with Das Esspensive XXVI on top! Seriously, the perfect spring mani. I am actually planning to paint my nails like this tomorrow again. But maybe without the sparkles, so that I can be more professional for my conference. I might not be able to help myself though…
This might be one of my favourite eye looks to date! And it’s all thanks to the Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in the shade “D-236 Blue Lagoon” that I played with in my MUFE Florals Artist Palette Palette Roulette. This has got to be the most stunning blue shadow shade out there! I would be happy to use this shade every day of my life!
Something that was at first a little depressing, but is now exciting, is that I now have glasses. I had known for a while that I wasn’t seeing quite right, but it hadn’t been affecting me too much until recently. Now, however, because I have been doing so much computer work, I thought it was definitely time to see an Optometrist and deal with the problem head on. Well, it turns out I have an astigmatism in each eye, making things just the tiniest bit blurry at all distances. It’s the difference of an image that just needs a bit of sharpening, but it isn’t so bad if you don’t sharpen it. There is a noticeable difference though, so I wear them when reading and doing computer work and watching TV, but I don’t need to wear them all the time. I have always gotten a lot of headaches, so hopefully these will reduce my eye strain and help with headaches.
While I at first found having to get glasses a bit depressing, because all of a sudden sight with my regular eyes was totally ruined for me in my head, seeing how good vision can be is kind of awesome, and I already kind of love using these glasses. I was however, a little off-put by the cost. I’m not sure if they sold me a top-shelf pair because they knew I was a glasses noob or what, but these glasses cost $600…. Wut. I blanched a bit at the price, but I really didn’t know how much glasses were supposed to be at the time of purchase, and my insurance did cover $200 (not enough, in my opinion). Oh well, they will hopefully last me a long time.
At first I didn’t think they looked that good on, but now I like them! What do you think?
Here is another KL Polish Spring Collection combo, Dream Boy and Charmed!
This month, I was super excited to branch out and try a creative eye look and manicure for Earth day! Again, I haven’t experimented with colour a ton, so I wasn’t sure how well this abstract eye look was going to turn out, but I think it worked out so well! I am proud of myself for trying new things, even if I haven’t been getting as good of a response on Instagram as I had hoped. I used to get 200 likes no problem on pictures, but over the last 5 months things have really gone downhill for whatever reason, and I am lucky to get 100 likes. Oh well! I’ve learned to not care or pay so much attention.
Instead of indulging in the Benefit Blush Bar for $72 that came out a bit ago, I decided to try out this Blush Bunch instead, that was only $30! I had been wanting to try quite a few of these products for a while, so getting this set was the perfect opportunity. You can check out my post on it here!
If you know me at all, you will know that I love a good floral mani. Well, when my KL Polish order came in, I couldn’t help myself but create this with some of the shades! I used Porter Miami, St. Clair, South Peach and November.
This month I also was given the opportunity to pull out an oldie but a goodie, the Too Faced Natural Love Eyeshadow Palette! In preparation for my collaboration with the Beauty Swatcher, I played with this palette quite a bit this month, and I was reminded how good it is!
As if I haven’t indulged enough, I also treated myself to a new pair of sunnies. The Sunglass Hut was having a pretty good sale, so I decided to check it out, and ended up walking away with these Clubmaster Ray Bans with Copper Gradient Flash lenses and Tortoise-shell frames. I had literally gone in to find sunglasses that didn’t have nose pieces, but silly me, I couldn’t help but get these. Next time!
As if one collaboration wasn’t enough, I also announced my Instagram Photo Challenge collab with Always Cleia! If you haven’t already joined in, it’s not too late! Just check out my original Instagram post to find out all the details!
Well, that’s it for this month! What looks did you create? What type of looks or nails would you like to see me do during May??
