Hello everyone!
Well it’s been April already for a few days, but I’m still adjusting! April is kind of an exciting month. Classes end and I can get back to full time grad student-ing. But things are also ramping up for me. I have to basically write my whole thesis in the next month or two, which is when things get really serious. I also have to prepare for a conference that I am attending and presenting at in Newfoundland, so that is exciting! I have never been to Eastern Canada, so I am pretty excited. But also nervous, to be presenting to such a prestigious crowd. Anyways, that’s still month away, so as I usually say, that’s future Nova’s problem.
For now, let’s take a look back through this last month.
The beginning of this month started off with the Sephora “Exclusive Soiree” Event, which was pretty terrible. Usually these events are so fun to go to, but this one was massively disappointing and has made me rethink where I will purchase my high end makeup items from, from now on. You can check out my full post on this event here.
The first palette roulette this month was the Tarte Tartelette Flirt, the cutest warm-toned mini palette out there! The shade on my lid here was my absolute favourite from the palette. Make sure that you check out that post for the full details!
One of my newest obsessions that I first discovered in February was the Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick! I have already alluded to this product a few times on my blog, and I have promised you a review! I swear that that is still coming. These highlighters can give you a subtle natural glow, or a wet blinding look. Either way, there is no powdery residue so they look like your skin when applied!
Like I promised in February, I decided to do some floral nail art this last month. I included the details of this mani in my Easter 2018 post, since I think these nails are perfect for Easter and Spring in general. I love floral manis!
This last month I got to hop on the hype train and try out the new Benefit BadGAL Bang! Mascara. I actually posted a full review, so make sure that you check that out if you haven’t already heard enough about this mascara. Although, it seemed to be a pretty polarizing product for people! So the more opinions, the better!
This month I did my first Colourpop haul in quite a long time! You can check out my full haul with swatches here! Some pictures of some of the products I got are below.
I have been totally obsessed with the Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Dream St. Palette! This is it in its pristine condition. If you checked out yesterday’s March Fave Five, you will have seen how loved this palette now looks, lol.
This is the Colourpop Lippie Stix in the shade “Lumiere”. I have been in love with this shade all month. It’s the perfect spring lip, isn’t it?
This is one of the looks that I did with the Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Dream St. Palette. The blues are truly stunning in this palette. You can see my full review of this palette and some other looks with it here.
Another new and fun purchase this month was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter. I’m not sure what made me jump on this purchase, but I am so glad I did! You can check out my full review, with comparison swatches, here.
When I received this Sephora perk in the mail, how could I not snap a pic? This is seriously the cutest perfume mini! And it smells pretty nice too! I haven’t used it a ton yet, and I’m not usually into more floral perfumes, but this one is really nice!
The first big holiday post this month was for St. Patrick’s Day! For this special day of green I created 4 eyeshadow looks that incorporated green in different ways, for the less or more adventurous. I also created 3 different mani’s to celebrate. You can check these out here.
I think that this was my favourite St. Patrick’s day look that I created! So sultry!
And this was my favourite mani that I created for St. Patty’s. I love green and gold together, and certainly anything that sparkles!
A new item that I decided to indulge in was the Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Palette. For only $30 CAD, it was a great way to try out such an acclaimed formula, that is usually so expensive. It actually turned out that I really liked this palette! You can check out my full review here.
This is one of the eye looks that I created with the Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Palette. It is seriously the perfect warm eye.
Did you know that March 8th was International Women’s Day? Well in celebration of this special day, Urban Decay released a new Vice Lipstick in the shade “Outspoken” a metallized mauve. When I received this lipstick in the mail I couldn’t believe how beautiful the LE packaging was!
This month I also did a review of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette. This is one of the first looks that I did, and I love how it came out! From warm neutrals to cool berries, this palette is truly the best neutral library.
This month I finally got to review the new Essie Treat Love & Color Strengthening Nail Polishes, which Chick Advisor sent to me for free! These polishes are actually so good, and are even better than typical Essie polishes. These shades are also so perfect for spring. I have been wearing them non-stop!
Well here it is in all of its glory, ABH Soft Glam. This is after I had really dug into it too, but it’s still so beautiful. Definitely a true classic.
For my review of Soft Glam, I actually did 5 different looks. This one was my ultimate all matte soft glam look. It’s funny how such a simple look can be so pretty!
This look with ABH Soft Glam was more on the deep and sultry side. The main shade I used was actually called Sultry, how apt!
This month I also received a new product from La Roche-Posay, the Toleriane Sensitive Hydrating Care Moisturizer, complimentary from Chick Advisor. I’m not totally sure how this product works for me, but I will likely post a review on here when I know for sure!
This month has definitely been the month of lashes for me. And my all time favourite lashes belong to the Ardell Faux Mink line! Make sure that you check out my overview of these lashes if you haven’t already!
I would have to say that the most exciting thing that happened this month was that I participated in a Makeup Swap hosted by Pretty on a Dime! This was very fun, and it really helped me get to know other beauty bloggers!
This is a full face with the products that I received from the Makeup Swap!
Finally, at the end of this month I started curating looks for my Easter 2018 post, which was on April 1. I couldn’t believe how early Easter was this year! Anyways, my take on Easter and Spring makeup was more pastel/lighter looks, with nude liner. I also really enjoyed incorporating yellow into my looks! This peach one was definitely one of my favourites!
This all yellow eye for my Easter post was also very different for me. It reminded me of buttercups and sunshine. So pretty!
I also included in Easter 2018 4 different manicure ideas, two of which played with pastels, as you can see above. I think simple pastel manis are so cute in the spring. Do you prefer the french tip or the polka dot mani?
This was the last look that I created for Easter, a cool-toned lavender eye. Isn’t that lilac shade just to die for? So soft and simple.
Well, that’s it for this month! Looking back on it all, I was so busy this month!!!
What looks did you create? What type of looks or nails would you like to see me do during April??
