Easter 2018 | 4 Eyeshadow Looks + 4 Manicures

Hello everyone! Happy Easter long weekend! Man, am I glad to have a few extra days off! Now I can catch up on blogging AND sleep, my two priorities in life, lol. I’m also going to get to see some friends, so that’s good too.

Today I am bringing you my typical kind of holiday post, some eyeshadow and nail art ideas. As soon as I finished my St. Patrick’s Day post, I had to jump right on the Easter stuff, so this month has been a bit of a marathon due to the early date of Easter this year!

With the beginning of spring, and now Easter, I have definitely been loving yellow in eye looks! Yellow is very much an uncommon shade to put on the eye most of the time, with the exception of fall, and overall more gold-toned yellows. Well you will see that yellow has played a common theme in almost all of these eye looks here, with the first one being full on yellow. There’s just something so cheerful and pretty about yellow on the eye!

I also am loving nude eyeliners for spring! Spring is all about makeup that is on the softer side, so a nude eyeliner is perfect for that. However, you will notice that I am still always doing winged eyeliner, but that is just my style. These looks would be so pretty without it!

I created this eyeshadow look mainly with peach and yellow shades in mind. I started off the whole look with the lighter peachy shade in the Colourpop Yes, Please! palette “Champs”, and I pulled this down onto the lower lash line as well. Then I blended the yellow shade “Mischief” into the crease. After building up the outer corner with “Note to Self” and “French Kiss”, I cut the crease with concealer and packed on the warm yellow-gold shade “Chauffeur” all over the lid. This has got to be the most beautiful deep yellow-gold shade ever! So unique too! To really brighten things up I placed the Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot in “Top Yacht” all over the inner 1/3 of the lid.

I think so many different spring looks can be completed with a variation of this layout: a pastel shade all over the lid and crease, with black slightly deepening the outer corner. It is so simple to do, and just really pretty! For this look I actually used those same peach and yellow shades from the Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette. I applied “Champs” all over the lid and crease. I decided to add a bit of “Mischief” to the inner third of the lid as well. I then blended a black shadow very precisely in the outer corner, blending it up and dragging it slightly into the crease. Do this very slowly and gradually, to make sure that you get a good blend. The black shade I used was “Noir” from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette, because I found that this was a particularly easy black to blend. I then popped some of Tarte’s Chrome Paint Shadow Pot, again in “Top Yacht”, in the inner corner.

Garden Pansy

This is very similar to one of the looks that I did recently in my review of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette. The look was called “Rose-coloured Glasses”, so check out that post if you want the details on how I got this look. The only difference here is that I added some yellow to the lower lash line. The yellow I added was the same “Mischief” from Colourpop Yes, Please!, and then I also added some of the shimmery gold shade “Butter Cake” close to the lash line with a wet brush. Pinks and yellows together are actually so pretty! This would look just as beautiful with a more pastel pink on the lid as well.

Lilac Dreams

I think one of the most beautiful shades for both spring and Easter are lavenders and lilacs! Very rarely do I wear pastel purples, but it is truly so beautiful on! In this look I built up the crease with “Almond Truffle” and “Bordeaux” from the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette, which is my favourite cool-toned palette for spring. I also pulled “Almond Truffle” onto my lower lash line. For the lid I cut the crease with concealer, and then pressed the shade “I-918” from the Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 3 “Florals”, which is the perfect light lavender for any look. PS, that Florals palette is seriously the perfect palette for spring, and it has been on sale for forever on Sephora, so maybe check it out! After finishing the shadow I decided to add a little glitz and glam with some Urban Decay Heavy Metal Eyeliner in “Pyro” to the periphery of the cut crease.

Now, for Easter-y manicures, I really just focused on spring in general. I wasn’t really feeling the extreme nail art for this holiday; I just wanted nails that were pretty, and overall cute. And I mean, very few people are willing to draw full-on rabbits on their nails, so let’s keep this easy and do-able, right?

Pastel Two Ways: Coloured French

IMG_9212

It’s as simple as that! Choose your favourite pastel colours and give yourself a white french. If you want your French manicure to look really professional, try using nail vinyls or sticker guides that were specifically made for that purpose. Just make sure your nails are dry AF before trying that. If you choose to do one of your nails white, use silver as the french! I added a little glitter polish to the silver as well to jazz it up a bit.

Products Used

  1. Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat
  2. China Glaze “Re-Fresh Mint”
  3. China Glaze “Chalk Me Up!”
  4. China Glaze “White on White”
  5. Sally Hansen Hard Nails Xtreme Wear “Mellow Yellow”
  6. Finger Paints “Easel Come, Easel Go”
  7. Orly “Tiara”
  8. Orly French Manicure White Tip Guides
  9. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Pastel Two Ways: Polka Dots

As you can see I have the same pastel shades on these nails too. Instead of doing a french, use a toothpick or dotting tool to place regularly spaced white polka dots all over your nails. Again, for the white nail I used silver instead. Polka dots are so perfect for spring! I also topped these off with a matte top coat.

Clustered Floral

IMG_7125.jpg

This manicure is so perfect for really any time of the year, just change up the colour of the flowers to suit the season. I just chose three colours that I felt were perfect for spring and dotted the different coloured flowers in clusters of three. The smaller the flowers are, the better! For the center of each flower I added a silver dot, along with some silver glitter polish, and I drew the green leaves with a toothpick.

Products Used

  1. Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat
  2. China Glaze “White on White”
  3. China Glaze “Chalk Me Up!”
  4. China Glaze “Dance Baby”
  5. Essie “Play Date”

  8. Orly “Tiara”

Subtle Corner French

IMG_8738.jpg

This last mani is so simple and so flexible. Just choose any two colours that you think will look good together, paint your whole nail with the first colour, let it DRY COMPLETELY. And then use tape to section off the corner and add your other colour. Bam, super simple, elegant spring mani. And a fresh take on the french as well.

Products Used

  2. Essie Treat Love & Color “Mauve-tivation”
  3. Essie Treat Love & Color “Glowing Strong”
  4. Scotch tape to section off the corner
  5. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Well that’s it for this little venture into spring and Easter! I hope that you liked what I came up with, and I wish you all a very Happy Easter!

  1. That lilac eye look is my favourite!!! 😍 I also really love the first one, I’ve been loving yellow/gold eyeshadow lately. I always fail at applying black Eyeshadow, I don’t know why but it’s so hard for me haha

The French tip manicure with the silver is my favourite, but of course they’re all beautiful. I’m just too impatient to wait for my nails to dry most of the time

    1. Thank you! Maybe you haven’t been using the right black, or the perfect brush? Like I said, that ABH one is pretty easy to blend. And I use the MAC 221 for outer corner blending. But it definitely can be difficult at times! I think I mentioned previously in my Prism Palette Roulette that I found that that black shade “Obsidian” was hard to blend, so they definitely aren’t all the same!
Yeah with all of these manicures you definitely have to wait a while for them to dry! The worst is not waiting long enough and having it all smear after all your hard work!

  2. I LOVE that lilac eye! Soooooo pretty, I might have to try and do that sometime! I also love the dotted nails, I think it’s perfect for spring!

    1. Thank you! Yes you totally should! Sometimes it’s hard to find nice lilac shades, so that Make Uo For Ever one is really good, although the singles are pretty expensive!

      1. Although if you are interested at all in the MUFE Floral Palette, it’s probably just a couple dollars extra than that single. It’s been on sale for forever on Sephora Canada so I’m sure it is for the states too and it has that shade in it.

      2. That sounds like a better deal! I’ve actually never tried anything from MUFE anyway, so I might just buy that palette! Thanks for the heads up! ☺️

      3. I looked it up and I really like it! It’s out of stock right now, but I think I might end up buying it.
