January Haulage | High End Makeup + Skin care

Hello everyone! It’s been a little while since I have done a haul post, and I am back with a good one! Why such a binge in January? Well, I think we all know I don’t need a reason. So let’s get into it, starting with the skin care!

Skin Care

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin’s Thirst

$34 CAD for 3.4 oz
For a while now I have been looking for more moisturizing skin care options. Like most of us, my skin has gotten really dry this winter, so I thought a mask would be a great way to increase hydration in times of desperate need. This is a leave-on mask, so basically just a night time moisturizer. So far I have used it twice and it hasn’t broken me out, so yay! I’m not sure how deeply it moisturizes my skin, but it certainly works well to replace my regular moisturizer at night.

Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask to Rescue Problem Skin

$34 CAD for 3.4 oz
I had actually tried a sample of this mask last year, and it didn’t really stand out to me. However, after hearing it brought up on Youtube here and there in the last couple of weeks, I decided to give it another try. This is a mask that uses salicylic acid and zinc oxide to help stop breakouts in their tracks. I have used this mask three times now, and I do think it has helped lessen the inflammation of my current breakouts. I’m not sure if it has prevented breakouts though. This mask has a really menthol-y feel to it, so it is very cooling.

Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask

$45 CAD for 2.8 oz
I have used many sample sizes of this mask over the last year and I have always really enjoyed it. This is a peel-off mask that not only removes dead surface skin cells, but also uses activated charcoal to help purify your skin. This mask takes a while to dry down, and I do find it is a bit painful when peeling it off of my cheeks. But for some reason I still like it! This mask has also never made me break out, and I do think that it helps unclog my pores.

Origins Original Skin Retexturizing mask with Rosy Clay

$34 CAD for 3.4 oz
Oh look, more Origins masks lol. This Rose clay mask is an OG for me. This is the first Origins mask I ever purchased, and since then I have really loved everything that I have tried. This is a repurchase. This is a clay mask that has jojoba beads in it that help to gently exfoliate your skin. Something that I often say is that I try to avoid clay masks that dry all the way down. Often, when you use clay masks that dry all the way down, they over-dehydrate your skin, causing your skin to overcompensate and overproduce oil, resulting in breakouts. So when looking for a clay mask, you want something that will not dry down, so that you can still get the purifying benefits of clay without sucking out all of the moisture. Well, this goes against what I say. Even though this rose clay mask dries down all the way, it does not break me out, which is great! I love to use this mask on my cheeks because that is the area where I have the most texture.

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

$34 CAD for 3.4 oz
For a while I wasn’t sure how I felt about this mask. I had been using a deluxe size for months, after I ran out of my hundreds of Glam Glow Clearing Mud treatments that I had been hoarding. I have come to the conclusion that this mask works just fine as compared to the GlamGlow one. It dries down all the way, and helps dry out and stop breakouts. I think this is a great affordable option for a classic charcoal mask.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

$8.70 CAD for 8 oz
Well, I have decided that I am tired of paying $40 for the Pixi Glow Tonic. Now that the Ordinary is available through Sephora, I have decided to give this toner a try, and I even bought 2, since it was out of stock for such a long time! So, hopefully I like it! It is slightly stronger than the Pixi Glow Tonic (5% VS 7%), and I can definitely feel that on application. It tingles a bit, and stings on contact with any open acne spots, but that doesn’t bother me so much. This is the type of product that is going to take a while of testing to see if it works well for me, but so far I do not suspect that it has has any negative effects.

Too Faced White Peach Eye Shadow Palette

$55 CAD for 0.48 oz
You likely all know by now that I decided to go ahead with purchasing the Too Faced White Peach Palette. Like most people, I was a little tentative at first because of the shade selection, and how most of the colours are very mid-tone. But I decided to try it out anyways. I am still forming my opinions on this palette, but they are certainly mixed. If you want to know more, I will have a post up next Monday on it!

Urban Decay X Kristen Leanne Vice Lipstick “Bun Bun”

$22 CAD for 0.11 oz
If you know me at all, you know that I love Urban Decay Vice Lipstick. I now own 27 shades… and I have just repurchased a shade. Yes, that’s right, I have finished a whole lipstick! Anyways, a couple of weeks ago the UD X Kristen Leanne collaboration came out, and I decided to support it by purchasing one of the three lipstick shades that she created, “Bun Bun” (comfort matte), which is a brown nude shade. It’s funny. On Kristen Leanne it looks like a rosy brown, but on me it is quite a cool brown. It is really beautiful though.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick “Afterdark”

$22 CAD for 0.11 oz
I actually received this shade free for my birthday, so that was a plus! This is the shade “Afterdark” (comfort matte), which is described as a medium-dark berry pink. This is a really nice deep fuchsia that has a slight blue tint to it.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner “Pyro”

$23 CAD for 0.25 oz
I have been wanting some of these glitter liners FOREVER. Well now is the time. I decided to get three shades. This one is “Pyro”, described as having iridescent and silver glitter. Honestly, the glitter in here looks pretty multicoloured, and very close to holographic. You will see what I am talking about when you see the swatch below.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner “Catcall”

$23 CAD for 0.25 oz
I also decided to get the shade “Catcall”, which is described as having pink glitter. It also has a pink-ish base to it, which is nice.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner “Midnight Cowboy”

$23 CAD for 0.25 oz
The last shade that I got was “Midnight Cowboy”, which is described as having beige glitter. Beige glitter doesn’t sound very attractive, it is more like a slightly dirty gold.

Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter “Champagne”

$18 CAD for 0.17 oz
At first, I had no intention of purchasing any of these Butter highlighters. I couldn’t particularly remember what people had said about them on Youtube, but when I finally saw them pop up in store, all intuition went out the window. Plus, I needed to spend a certain amount to use a coupon, so adding this highlighter into my cart was absolutely necessary……… 🙂
This highlighter is freaking intense. I think the best way to apply it is to either dab it on lightly with your fingers, or just barely dip in with a brush. Seriously, do not apply too much, otherwise all of your texture, and all of the texture that you have ever had in your life, will show up. Other than that, it is a really nice glowy wet highlighter. I think it will be so gorgeous for the summer!!

Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot “Park Ave Princess”

$27 CAD for 0.11 oz
Ok, last but certainly not least. These Chrome Paint Pots have been popping up on Youtube here and there, but haven’t really taken anything by storm yet. Well let me tell you!!!!! This pot of pigment has got to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Swatched, it is breath-taking. On your eye lids, it is out of this world. Wow. I used this for the first time yesterday, and I was very very happy with it. Put simply, I need all of the shades. Except they are almost all out of stock on Sephora 😢

Below are some swatches of these makeup products!

Well, those are the items that I purchased during January!

Have you tried any of these products? What do you think? Comment down below!

  1. I love that Origins overnight mask! It smells amazing, too.

Where did you find the Physician’s Formula highlighter? I keep seeing it on YouTube but I’ve never seen it in stores.

That Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot is absolutely stunning. I’ve never even heard of it, but now I really want one, haha! Too bad they’re sold out on Sephora.

    1. I got that highlighter at Shoppers Drug Mart a couple of weeks ago! It wasn’t put into their main Physicians Formula area but in a middle aisle stand, so keep your eyes out! Hopefully they restock those Tarte Shadow Pots soon!!

      1. Oooh I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled! I was checking in the PF section and it wasn’t there, but I also don’t think I saw it on a separate stand!
I just Googled swatches of the shadow pots and they’re all so stunning…how to choose?!

  2. Origins is one of my favourite skincare brands! I use a ton from them too. I’ve wanted to try the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid treatment for a while now but it’s still out of stock at Sephora! Great post! xo

I’ve also been dying to get my hands on the urban decay glitter liners! I keep passing on them, even though I want them! 🙄

    1. Yeah, Origins has definitely become a brand that I really trust. They have great products that are usually priced not too high. Yeah with glitter liners, it’s easy to put them off since they are such an extra treat. Not necessary for eyeshadow looks, but such a fun addition when you do splurge!

  4. Now I want to go shopping (again)!! xD
So many great picks this month, I feel like I need that 10 minutes rescue mask, my skin has been so weird the last two months
The rose clay mask from Origins is one of my favourites! My skin always feels so smooth after using it!
The UD glitter liners are calling my name, especially the shade Pyro. I’ve seen a few YouTubers use them and they look fantastic!
Looking forward to your White Peach review!

    1. Yes, both of those masks are really good! I’m quite liking the out of trouble one! I do think it is doing a good job of maintaining my skin without drying it out. The glitter liners are definitely fun!! I really haven’t used them yet, so I need to get on that!
