Hey everyone! I’m not one to make resolutions in the New Year, but I do have ideas of a few things I would like to do this year. One of these things is to try some more products from brands that I don’t have a lot of experience with. Some of these brands are:
- Natasha Denona
- Cover FX
- Hourglass
- Stila
- Kat Von D
- Benefit Cosmetics
- Wet N’ Wild
- Milani Cosmetics
- treStiQue
- Artist Couture
I’d love to go through with you the items that I do have from some of these brands, and what I would like to purchase from them!
All I have from Natasha Denona is theΒ All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder β2 Mediumβ. I like to use this as a deep shimmery bronzer when I have a pretty good tan going on.
Some things that I would love to get are the Chroma Crystal Top Coat and the Lila Eyeshadow Palette. If you read my Sephora Christmas Wishlist, you will know that I have had my eye on the Chroma Crystal Top Coat to a little bit. They are cream eyeshadow pots that are just supposed to add some shine to a finished eyeshadow look. They look so simple but so beautiful! I have also been wanting to try Natasha Denona eyeshadows for a while, and the colour scheme of the Lila palette takes my breath away!
So far I only have a small sample of the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in “Moonlight”. I’ve had this sample for at least 8 months now and believe it or not, I haven’t tried it yet! But I am wanting to get into liquid highlighters, so I am going to start using this one and look for others!
Some things that I would be interested in trying are the Cover FXΒ Matte Setting Powder, the Custom Enhancer Drops in Rose Gold and the brand new Glitter Drops. It seems that people really like the Matte Setting Powder, and hold it pretty comparable to the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, which I love. I have also swatched those Rose Gold Drops in store and they are so gorgeous!! I am also curious about the new glitter drops, although what would you use them on exactly?? I don’t go to many raves…
I thought I owned nothing from Hourglass, but it turns out I do own a sample size of the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in “Peacemaker”. I can’t say I actually like that product though. It’s a crayon that is freaking expensive ($40 CAD), has only a slight tint, and actually dries out my lips and makes them start to peel (and it’s supposed to be a hydrating product).
BUT I have heard such great things about so many of their products, including the HourglassΒ Ambient Lighting Powder, the Ambient Lighting Blush and the Mineral Veil Primer. Luckily, even though this is such an expensive brand, all of these products come in mini size! So that is what I would purchase. Sometimes I just don’t want matte skin, and want to look luminous, so the Ambient Lighting powder in “Dim Light” would be perfect for that. I would also be interested in trying one of their blushes. I have also heard so many good things about the Mineral Veil Primer, so I would love to try that out too!
While I would consider Stila a pretty well-known brand, the majority of their products really seem to fly under the radar. I only ever hear about their Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows, and more recently about their new Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. I currently own one of their Heaven’s Hue Highlighters in the shade “Kitten”, and I swear I use it every day. If not on my cheekbones, then on the inner corners of my eye looks, as it has the most beautiful shine. I also own threeΒ Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow minis that were sold as a pack over the holidays, and they are really beautiful!
Two things that I would really love to repurchase from Stila is theirΒ Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner and another shade of the Heaven’s Hue Highlighter. This eye liner was my HG for two years straight. No liner makes a crisper line than this one. However, around a year ago I started having problems with it running out faster and faster (one ran out within a week of purchasing), so I switched to the KVD Ink Liner. However, I would love to give this liner another go, because I do miss it. I would also like to get the Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in “Bronze” for the summer. I think it would look so bomb in the summer when I am tanned! I am also very curious about their Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows, so I would like to try out some of those.
Kat Von D is definitely a very popular brand, however, somehow I have managed to buy almost nothing from her! I have been using theΒ Ink Liner in “Trooper” for over a year now, but I don’t own one right now. I do own two Everlasting Liquid Lipstick minis (shades “Lovesick” and “Mother”) from her as well as a mini of her Studded Kiss Lipstick in “Mother”. If you know anything about me, it is that I am not a fan of liquid lipsticks, which is why I own very few, and only minis.
Some things that I would like to purchase from Kat Von D are her MetalMatte Mini Eyeshadow Palette, the Saint Eau de Parfum, and the new Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick. Most of her eyeshadow palettes are so big, so I think this slightly smaller and more affordable one would be a great way to try out her formula. I also really love the shades of this particular palette. I also recently got a mini of her Saint Eau de Parfum and I really love that scent! It has definitely left me wondering what the Sinner Eau de Parfum smells like.. Lastly, I am definitely curious about her new Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick that is about to come out. That original mini Studded Kiss Lipstick that I own is drying as f$@k, so I am curious about the new formula!
Surprisingly, I don’t own very much from Benefit, which is such a popular brand. They are best known for their brow products, but I am pretty set in my ways with my brows (ABH Dipbrow), so I haven’t tried any of those products. BUT, I do own the POREfessional Face Primer, the GALifornia Blush and I recently received a sample of the new POREfessional Pearl Face Primer, which I am excited to try. That GALifornia blush is my favourite blush that I own! If you read my Makeup Inventory 2018, you will know that that is saying something, since I currently own 13 blushes and blush palettes (plus more in mini size)!
Some things that I would love to try from Benefit are the Hoola Matte Bronzer, the Rockateur Box o’ Powder Blush and the Highlighter Hotshots Kit that includes minis of the Watt’s Up Cream Highlighter, theΒ Sun Beam Liquid Higlighter and the High Beam Liquid Highlighter.Β Of course the Hoola Bronzer is so raved about, and I totally love the look of that shimmery blushΒ π. And again, I want to try more liquid and cream highlighters, so what a perfect way to do that with this minis kit!
All I own from Wet N’ Wild is one of their Color Icon Blushes in “RosΓ© Champagne”. I haven’t used this blush a lot, but it’s a nice nude colour.
I always hear great things about Wet N’ Wild eyeshadows, so I would like to try some of those. The new Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Palettes look really nice, so when I travel down to the US next, I am going to see what I can get my hands on. The selection of Wet N’ Wild products where I live in Canada is more than extremely limited.
All I have from Milani is one of their Color Statement Lipsticks in “Dulce Caramelo”. Unfortunately, while I think the shade of this lipstick is really pretty, I hate the smell of this lipstick. It makes me feel sick and kind of concerned for my health when I wear it.
However, Milani is such a raved about drugstore brand, who kind of seems to do no wrong, so when I do go down to the US, I definitely want to pick up some Milani too! I would love to get their Make It Last Setting Spray, the Eyeshadow Primer, and the Strobelight Instant Glow Powder. emilynoel83 on Youtube is always raving about the Milani Eye Primer, so I’ve got to try that!
If you read myΒ Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some New Lip Kit | Overview andΒ SwatchesΒ post, you will know that I just got this treStiQueΒ Mini Plumping Lip Balm in “Barbados Berry”Β in that kit. This lip balm is so comfy, and actually has a pretty good tint to it.
treStiQue is a brand that I have heard literally nothing about, but is carried at Sephora. I would love to try their Highlight & Perfect Multipurpose Stick, since it is another cream highlighter that has got really great reviews!
Artist Couture is the last brand that I am going to talk about today! I just recently saw that they are coming to Sephora sometime soon (here’s hoping it’s to both Sephora USA and Canada, and not just Sephora USA). This instantly piqued my interest since all I know about this brand is that Jackie Aina has collaborated with them to make her very own Diamond Glow Powders (loose highlighters), “La Bronze” and “La Peach”. I really enjoy watching Jackie Aina on Youtube, so I would love to try out her highlighters! They look like such gorgeous shades. There’s a good chance that her collab won’t be available on Sephora, but I would like to try any of Artist Couture’s products really. I’m just curious in general.
Well, that’s it for all of the brands that I want to try more of in 2018!
What brands do you want to explore further now that we have started this new year? Have you tried any of the specific items that I have listed here? What do you think?Β Comment down below!
I feel like Wet n Wild have been coming so many great releases this year! I can’t wait to see what they’ll come out with in 2018 π

I’m curious about the Natasha Denona, but the reviews seem to be all over the place. I’m with you on the Kat Von D and Benefit (love everything I’ve tried from Benefit!).

You are right. ND eyeshadow palettes do seem to be really polarizing for people, likely because of the price. Thank god Sephora has such an amazing return policy! That’s great to hear about KVD and Benefit. I definitely want more!! π

YES, I highly recommend the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders! Dim Light is a huge favourite of mine. Like you, I would like to try their blushes as well as some of their other products!
I feel like Stila was one of it ‘it’ makeup brands a few years ago, but it somehow lost its steam. It seems to have come back this year with the Glitter and Glow liquid shadows though, so hopefully that means good things are to come from Stila in the next year! I personally like the Shimmer and Glow shadows are than the Glitter and Glow, but I think it’s a personal preference and depends on what you are looking for!

Ok cool I definitely need to get my hands on that Hourglass powder and the Stila Shimmer and Glow shadows! I just wish they sold them in smaller colour sets. I know they had the larger holiday set but I missed the boat on that one lol.

I really love the Benefit Rockateur blush! It’s my current favorite. Also a huge favorite is Dandelion Twinkle π Benefit is one of my favorite brands and this year I really want to expand my Benefit collection. Also, for Wet n Wild I would recommend the megaglo highlighters. They are sooooo good!
