Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some New Lip Kit | Overview and Swatches

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share a new Sephora Favourites Kit that I purchased recently: The Give Me Some New Lip Kit.

My friend actually first spotted this on instagram, and I was instantly interested. I think one product that may interest many people is the fact that there is a mini Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle lipstick included in the kit! Since this is such a new release, it is a very cool item to be included in this extremely affordable kit.

In this overview I am going to give you information on the kit itself and each product and swatches. I will also give my first impressions of the application for each product. If you are interested in these things, then please keep reading!

Product Information

“What it is:
A collection of Strobing Metallic Lip Glosses—from sheer to full coverage—designed to be worn alone or layered with your favorite lipstick.

What it does:
Offering a prismatic spectrum of sheer and full coverage colors, each one of them boasts its own pigment and pearl complex. Some are beautifully iridescent, infused with pearls, and others are packed with rich pigments or have subtle, glimmering glitters. Incorporated into an adherent yet flexible dewy base, it gives lips a sculpted and volumized gleam that’s visible from every angle. The non-sticky, cushion-like texture make wear more comfortable than ever while the precision, heart-shaped flock glides on generously for an even coat in one gesture.

COLOR: Snobby – a semi-sheer light pink base with pink and gold pearls

Price and Quantity

The full size of this lip gloss is priced at $23 CAD ($18 USD) and has 0.14 oz of product. That is around the average amount of product found in lip glosses.

The deluxe size included in this kit is 0.07 oz, which is worth $11.5 CAD.

Initial Application Impressions

  1. This lip gloss goes on very smoothly and is not overly sticky or uncomfortable.
  2. It does not have a very pigmented base, but there is lots of bright pink shimmer, making it still very noticeable on the lips, especially in daylight. It is slightly buildable.
  3. You cannot feel any texture from the shimmer, as it is very fine.
  4. This would be a great lip gloss to apply on liquid lipstick. It would definitely give it that “extra dimension” look.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon “Night Mauves”

Product Information

“What it is:
A creamy, 16-hour long wear lip crayon that has the look, feel, and wear of a liquid lipstick in range of bold, covetable shades.

What it does:
It melts into lips with a lightweight liquid sensation, providing powerful one-swipe color with bold impact. A dose of innovative “ghost pearl” gives the matte look a dimensional sheen, which becomes more visible at certain angles to give lips a modern, never-before-seen finish.

With the perfect amount of playtime, you get the best of both worlds: instant color that lasts for up to 16 luxurious hours of long-wear. The bold, high-pigment shades feel creamy and comfortable and won’t dry or settle into lines.”

COLOR: Night Mauves – mauve

Price and Quantity

The full size of this lip crayon is priced at $34 CAD ($26 USD) and has 0.07 oz of product. For any lip product, that seems like very little product for the price.

The lip pencil included in this kit is the full size, worth $34 CAD.

Initial Application Impressions

  1. The description of this lip product is very accurate in that it actually does feel like a liquid when you apply it! This has got to be the smoothest-applying lip pencil out there.
  2. Once applied, it literally feels like you have nothing on your lips. You can slightly move around the product at first, but then it dries down. I found that this lip product had very little transfer when drinking.
  3. This pencil is pretty pigmented! You really get close to full opacity with one layer.
  4. I absolutely love this colour. It looks matte, but fresh and healthy because it has the tiniest bit of shine to it.

Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte “XO, Vlada”

Product Information

“What it is:
An eight-hour, liquid matte lipstick that feels light, stays put, and delivers pigmented color in a range of nudes, bolds, and metallics.

What it does:
Specifically formulated not to dry out lips, this lipstick delivers rich, lightweight color with a liquid matte finish. The flexible formula makes it easy to inspire your inner artist. Advanced polymer technology ensures color stays put for up to eight hours without flaking, bleeding, or feathering. The applicator holds enough product to precisely line and fill in a single swipe. The formula also contains a primer oil complex to make lips feel comfortable and prevent drying. This product is available in matte and metallic matte finishes.”

COLOR: XO, Vlada – metallic rose gold

Price and Quantity

The full size of this liquid lipstick is priced at $28 CAD ($26 USD) and has 0.13 oz of product. For a liquid lipstick, this amount of product is slightly on the lower side.

The liquid lipstick included in this kit is the full size, worth $28 CAD.

Initial Application Impressions

  1. This liquid lipstick has a thin but moussey texture that glides on easily. When first applied, it isn’t totally opaque. It seems to take a bit of layering.
  2. It takes a couple of minutes to dry down, which makes application a bit easier since you can manipulate it before it completely dries.
  3. The colour seems more copper with a hint of rose, than rose gold to me.
  4. Because this lip is metallic, it definitely accentuated my lip lines. It also separated out of the lines in my lips within 10 minutes of application, which isn’t my favourite look.

treStiQue Mini Plumping Lip Balm “Barbados Berry”

Product Information

This product is not available for purchase through Sephora.

“The cutest, pocket sized plumping balm with a kiss of color! Collectable and craveable. Infused with Organic Shea Butter, Maxi Lip & Marine Collagen Microspheres for full, moisturized lips! Lips look up to 32% fuller.” – treStiQue

COLOR: Barbados Berry – berry red

Price and Quantity

This lip balm is priced at $15 CAD ($12 USD) and has 0.21 oz of product. That is actually a really good amount of product for a tinted lip balm at that price!

Although this lip product is not listed as being “full size” in this Sephora Favorites kit, this size is sold on the treStiQue website. This product is worth $15 CAD.

Initial Application Impressions

  1. I really love the feel of this lip balm! It is so smooth and creamy, not waxy at all.
  2. It actually has a pretty good tint to it!
  3. However, the shape of it is very awkward. If you are going to use a tinted lip balm, you will want a more accurate application, which is not possible with this large round shape. As you can see in my lip swatch below, I could not completely draw in my cupid’s bow, and you can see my lip scar through it (on the left side of the bottom lip), so it is certainly not opaque.
  4. While the packaging is certainly cute, it is definitely bulky to carry around.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick “Candy Venom”

Screen Shot 2018-01-05 at 6.50.11 PM

Product Information

“What it is:
An ultra-slim lipstick with a long-wearing, petal-soft matte finish, created in a rainbow of weightless, color-intense shades designed to flatter all skin tones.

What it does:
Rihanna wanted to make the matte lipstick of your dreams a reality: Think mega rich color minus the weight. The ultimate light-as-air texture glides on creamy and stays put—no bleeding or feathering after application—with a velvety-soft matte finish inspired by a rose petal. And thanks to Mattemoiselle’s chic, slim design, you can effortlessly define lips with the ultimate control for lips that look fuller with every stroke.”

COLOR: Candy Venom – electric pink

Price and Quantity

The full size of this lipstick is priced at $23 CAD ($18 USD) and has 0.06 oz of product. If you read my Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick edition of Wow! or Waste?, you will know that this lipstick has a very poor value compared to others on the market. Make sure you check out that post if you want more information.

The lipstick included in this kit is 0.035 oz, worth $13.4 CAD.

Initial Application Impressions

  1. This lipstick is exactly as described! It applies in a very thin layer, and feels like you are wearing nothing on your lips. Initially, you can slightly move around the product, but it dries down completely.
  2. The pigmentation of this lipstick is incredible. You will get full opacity with one layer. The best part is that it looks like soft velvet on your lips!
  3. This colour is a very saturated bright pink. As it fades, it starts to look a little bit more red on me.
  4. While this lipstick is not transfer proof, it still looks just as pigmented on your lips after hours of transfer. It kind of sinks into your lips to become a stain, but it is still easy to remove when you want to with micellar water etc.
  5. I did notice my lips feeling pretty dry after a couple hours of wear, but it wasn’t unbearable. It’s just not the most comfortable matte lipstick I own.

Here are swatches of all of the lip products:

Total value of the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some New Lip Kit:
$101.9 CAD

It turns our their estimate that this lip kit is worth $80 USD is right on!

Final Thoughts

This lip kit has turned out to be quite versatile. All of the shades are quite different from each other and the finishes vary as well. However, this kit is slightly weighted on the matte/drying lipstick side of things. I wouldn’t say any of the matte/dry down products were unbearably uncomfortable, but if you know you are sensitive to that, this kit might not be right for you. However, if you love the “one application and done” type of products, then three of these products should be perfect for you, and two of them are full size! This kit also clearly has a great value, so if you have not tried any of these formulas, then this is the perfect way to do so.

Now that you have seen all the swatches for this lip kit, will you be getting it? Comment down below!

  1. Can’t wait to get my hands on this kit! Unfortunately shipping Sephora goodies to where I live is quite expensive because of the taxes but I will ask my family for sure to pick up this kit when they will visit the US in a few months! 🙂 Your blog got me even more excited about it!

    1. I just saw in store yesterday that you could redeem to get the mini Fenty lipstick! It was a brown shade though, which I am not personally interested in. Yes, all the shades in this kit are quite nice!!!

      1. It looks really brown in the tubebut I checked out some swatches and it’s more of a deep burgundy. I have no idea if I’ll like the way it looks on me haha. I’m glad you like the set!

    1. Thank you! Yes, that smashbox shade is definitely a stunner. I just wish it wore a little better. I really don’t like it when lip products separate out of the lines on your lips. Gives you an unfortunate stripey look lol.

    1. Yes, I totally agree. Although, I’m about to use up my first lipstick (but it’s my HG). But you’re right, it almost never happens! Thanks for reading!
