Hey everyone! Welcome back to Wow! or Waste? Whether a whole collection has been launched, or just a new product, I’m going to evaluate whether each product is either a Wow! buy or a Waste? of money, in terms of the price and the amount of product you get.

This time around we are evaluating the new Fenty Beauty Holiday release, the Galaxy Collection, which is exclusive to Sephora

“Rihanna wanted her first holiday collection to wow from every angle: “Glitter on glitter on glitter. That’s what The Galaxy Collection is all about, no exception.”—Rihanna”

Price and Quantity

This palette is priced at $69 CAD ($59 USD) and has ~0.69 oz of product. I couldn’t actually find the weight information anywhere, but I called my local Sephora and a cast member kindly informed me that there are 14 shadows that each have 1.4 grams of product, with a palette total of 19.6 grams (~0.69 oz). For price comparison I chose eyeshadow palettes that are either relatively new, or released for the holidays. The Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette ($72 CAD/0.6 oz/20 shades), the Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 – Holiday Edition ($61 CAD/0.4 oz/5 shades), the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette ($55/0.28 oz/14 shades), and the Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette ($83 CAD/0.96 oz/24 shades).

Price and Quantity

These lipsticks are priced at $24 CAD ($19 USD) and have 0.045 oz of product. Holy crap are these the polar opposite of the lip glosses. These have NEXT TO NO PRODUCT!!!! Check out the comparisons below. I compared to the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($21 CAD/0.11 oz; read my review of this product here),the Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick ($23 CAD/0.12 oz), the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($30 CAD/0.15 oz) the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick ($27 CAD/0.12 oz; read my review of this product here), the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick ($25 CAD/0.10 oz) and the Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick ($25 CAD/0.14 oz; read my review of this product here).

Rank Company’s Product Mentioned Above Cost ($ CAD) Quantity (oz) Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 UD Vice $21 0.11 $191/oz
2 ABH Matte $23 0.12 $192/oz
3 Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche $30 0.15 $200/oz
4 Tarte Color Splash $27 0.12 $225/oz
5 Smashbox Be Legendary $25 0.1 $250/oz
6 TF Peach Kiss $25 0.14 $179/oz
7 Fenty Starlit Hyper-Glitz $24 0.045 $533/oz

Wow! or Waste? You know, the lipstick was the item that I was the most excited for, and I am absolutely disgusted by the price. How on Earth can the value of the lipgloss and the value of the lipsticks be so different?! These lipsticks are a TOTAL WASTE!!!! I was swatching them in store today and I really wanted to get a few, but I just cannot stomach that price for that ridiculously small amount of product. That amount of product is almost sample-sized!! It was actually this product that made me rush into doing this Wow! or Waste? today. And PS, if I had included high end lipsticks in the comparisons above, this Fenty Beauty lipstick would be more expensive than Burberry, Pat McGrath and Bobbi Brown just to give you a taste of what you are really getting into here.

Who else is extremely disappointed by this?! Comment down below.

What it does:

Price and Quantity

This eyeliner is priced at $25 CAD ($20 USD) and has 0.13 oz of product. For the comparisons I chose items that are also brush tip in style. I chose the Make Up For Ever Ink Liner ($30 CAD/0.11 oz), the Too Faced Glitter POP! Peel-Off Eyeliner ($24 CAD/0.23 oz), the Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12 HR Wear Liner ($15 CAD/0.085 oz), and the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner ($27 CAD/0.07 oz).

Rank Company’s Product Mentioned Above Cost ($ CAD) Quantity (oz) Cost-Quantity Ratio for 1 oz of product
1 TF Glitter POP! $24 0.23 $104/oz
2 Fenty Eclipse $25 0.13 $192/oz
3 Sephora Collection $15 0.09 $176/oz
4 MUFE Ink Liner $30 0.11 $273/oz
5 UD Razor Sharp $27 0.07 $386/oz

Wow! or Waste? The value of this eyeliner is actually pretty Wow! However, that Too Faced eyeliner is also supposed to be very glittery so you may want to try that one out first just because it does have such great value (although I am super skeptical that you peel that one off…) Anyways, compared to other liners, this Fenty liner has pretty great value!

Well that’s it for this edition of Wow! or Waste? Sorry, but I’m not going to do the brush!

What are you getting from this collection? Does the above evaluation change your mind on any of the items? Like I said, I have purchased one of the glosses, so I will try to do a further post on that this weekend!

  1. Great post! I liked how you have done all the price comparison. I am more of a lipstick person and this doesn’t excite me at all. I’d better get YSL or TF lipsticks even if I have to pay high price. Thanks for sharing love reading your blog. 🙂

    1. Yes I totally agree. I love the oil slick chrome packaging, but I am not at all interested in the palette. I did buy one lipgloss and it’s totally a colour that I always go for, but it is really quite bright. The colour selections she chose are a bit odd and limited for sure!

  2. Very interesting comparisons! It’s very cool that the majority of her products are on the WOW! scale of things but that’s too bad about the lipstick, especially when it’s the product you were most excited about! 😦

    1. Yeah overall I have been really impressed with the pricing, so it’s really surprising when an item is so unreasonably priced! Like did they really they could pull one over on us? Lol
