The Daily Post Photo Challenge: Pedestrian

Hey everyone! This week’s theme is Pedestrian: Pedestrian or not? It’s up for your interpretation.

Other than the typical noun form of pedestrian, a person walking in a developed area, pedestrian can also be used as an adjective to describe something lacklustre or uninspiring.

For this challenge I decided to go with a black and white photo. I vary rarely ever use black and white photography. I think that black and white can look really great for personal portraits, however pictures of material items really need to be in colour to give them the wow-factor, in my opinion. Maybe this difference between portraits and still life images is that a person exudes personality, which easily translates through a picture whether it is in colour or not, but inanimate objects lack this natural disposition.

I’ve placed the original version of the picture below. Which are you more naturally drawn to? Comment down below!

  1. The colored picture has life to it. Love the colored picture even I never take black and white photos but as you mentioned it is good for personal portraits I have not yet tried. I should it will take me to the 1950s time hehehe. I am just going on reading your blog it is so interesting and nice. 🙂

    1. Yes I love black and white to make things look like a couple of decades back. Last Christmas I did a 1950s baking party and we did a bit of a photo shoot and of course black and white looks great with those pictures!
